Beijing: Tiananmen, Forbidden City, Great Wall Private Tour

Meet your guide at your hotel or at Grand Hotel (depending on what option you book) and head to Tiananmen Square, one of the largest city squares in the world. On Chang'an Street, see the Great Hall of the People (Renmin Dahuitang) and the National Museum of China (formerly the National Museum of Chinese History and the Museum of the Chinese Revolution), and take a look at Chairman Mao's Mausoleum (aka Chairman Mao Memorial Hall) in the middle of the square. From the gate, walk to the Forbidden City, the UNESCO World Heritage–listed former Chinese imperial palace. A total of 24 emperors lived and ruled from here, starting with the Ming dynasty and ending with the Qing. If you come on Monday, when the Forbidden City is closed, Jingshan Hill instead. Then it's time for lunch at a local restaurant before continuing your day tour to the Great Wall at Mutianyu, a typically less-crowded section of the Great Wall of China. After the drive, you have around two hours here to hike. Choose the round-trip cable car option or ride the chairlift up and then ride the toboggan down to save time and energy. Your tour then ends with return transportation to your departure point.

  • please note that chinese nationals including visitors from hong kong, macao and taiwan must book tickets 7 days in advance for the forbidden city. we cannot accept any bookings made within 7 days of the visit date.
  • travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
  • about the cable way: 1) chairlift up+ chairlift down or slide down. 2) cable car up+ cable car down. you can choose one or the other.
  • this tour only provides hotel pick-up and drop-off services in the downtown city. this service does not apply to the "meet at grand hotel" option. if your hotel is not listed, please specify it in special requirements.

Summary: We had a wonderful time with Lucy. We always used a tour guide when we travel out of the country and I would rank Lucy at the top. She was very knowledgeable and fun to have around all day She knew all the short cuts and how to make the best out of our day She took great care of us.
