Your tour begins with a morning or afternoon pickup from your central District 1 Ho Chi Minh City hotel by air-conditioned bus, minibus, or luxury vehicle (depending on the tour option chosen). After about a 1.5-hour drive (depending on the traffic), arrive at the Cu Chi Tunnels, where you’ll enjoy up to two hours to explore the well-preserved Vietnam War site. Depending on the option selected, you will visit the touristy Ben Dinh section, or the less-touristy Ben Duoc section. As you follow your guide through the tunnels, you’ll learn about the fascinating tunnel system and the daily life of the Viet Cong soldiers, and have the opportunity to squeeze and crawl through the narrow passageways, tunnels, and trap doors. You’ll see the kitchens, living quarters, and weapon rooms, and have the option to shoot an AK-47 (not included). After some free time for photos and exploring independently, meet your guide and group back at the tour bus for the return journey to Ho Chi Minh City.

The pick up and drop off location was very good, a short two minute walk from our hotel. We were met by Dat who was very helpful and informative throughout the entire experience. The bus journey was seamless with a stop in between. Dat was very good at explaining the different things through the tunnels. Stopped off for food on the way back. Options were primarily Pho or spring rolls. Great service.

A fascinating and thought-provoking tour with an excellent guide
We had a fantastic and very thought-provoking tour of the Cu Chi tunnels with our guide, Tuan.
Tuan was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and open about his own experiences during the Vietnam War. He fought for South Vietnam and spent a great deal of time in the area around the Cu Chi tunnels. Hearing his personal story gave the visit a completely different depth, especially as we had already visited the War Remnants Museum in Ho Chi Minh City.
He explained the history clearly, answered all our questions thoroughly and shared what life was like both during the war and afterwards. His experiences of being on the losing side after the war were particularly moving and gave us a perspective that is not always included in the official historical narrative.
We were also fortunate that there were relatively few other visitors, and our group was small, which made the experience much more personal. The tunnels themselves are fascinating, although anyone planning to go inside should be aware that they are extremely narrow and not suitable for people with claustrophobia.
The tour was well organised, the car was very comfortable, and we had a very good lunch afterwards.
Tuan was an excellent guide, and meeting him made this one of the most memorable experiences of our trip to Vietnam. Highly recommended.
