Summary: Spent 2 nights with my family in My Queen Waad felucca maneuvered by Captain Edi and Mohammed. It was the simple and slow life but with the basic comforts of a shower and toilet (very cramped but functional: even toilet paper and towels are provided!), solar-powered electricity (charging and shower before sunset!) and mosquito tents and warm blankets for sleeping. Edi consistently consults us on the itinerary and the stop for the night. He tried his best to dock on the least noisy spot whether there's a dog barking, a crowded felucca docking spot or a spot with people partying. Unfortunately, even if he tried his best, Nile can be very busy on certain nights from passing cruise ships and dahabiyas pulled by noisy motorboats. The passing of the ships seemed endless during the first night. Got our quiet moment around 1 am. Fortunately, it's not like that every night. Our second night was quiet with practically no bigs ships passing by during our sleeping hours. On the plus- Edi and Mohamed cook excellent meals for us! Sleeping in a felucca is not for everyone but for those who choose to do it, it is a wonderful and unforgettable experience. It is the least polluting way to explore the Nile and the most charming. I am glad our daughter got to experience it on her young life with us!
