Summary: Overall it was an amazing experience. The visit to the Padmamabhswamy Temple is very nice, but expect long lines. Before you can enter the temple premises, you will be asked to leave your belongings in a cloak room outside. But keep a small wallet with you, in case you would like buy the Special Entry ticket for about 50 rupees per person which can shorten your wait in the line. The Puthen Malika Palace Museum has a very impressive collection of historical artifacts, carvings, sculptures, made of ivory, rosewood, teak, history of the royal families of the region. The Poovar Island golden sand beach, the Backwater cruise, the prawns from the floating restaurant were very very enjoyable. Kovalam beach was very nice and also had a large number of tourists milling around, a number of hawkers selling kids toys etc Our tour guide Adarsh was excellent, helped us get the most from the day.
