Positive: The hotel offers a charming, traditional atmosphere and represents good value for money. My room was simple but covered all the essentials for a comfortable stay. The Wi-Fi was reliable with no issues, and the shower was excellent — good temperature control and easy to use. Facilities were decent — the gym and pool were functional and well-maintained, though between 7–8am the pool became quite busy and I occasionally had to wait for a swim lane. I also spent some time in the steam room and sauna, which were not bad at all. Breakfast was decent to start with, but by the third day we found ourselves wanting to add a few extras for variety.
Negative: When we arrived, it felt like we were overlooked for a few minutes while the receptionist attended to other guests — including some who had arrived after us to make a restaurant reservation. Even a quick “hello, I’ll be with you in a moment” would have made a difference. In our room, we discovered a pair of used socks, which wasn’t ideal, and there was no soap or shower gel stocked in the bathroom. It took two requests, with the items arriving the following day. At night the room was uncomfortably hot; the addition of a small fan helped, but it was still very warm, and air conditioning would be a worthwhile investment for the summer months. When we opened the window for some air, we found a few staff rolling cigarettes on the steps below. We also found the food rather overpriced for what it was, especially as we enjoyed much better value and quality at places in town such as Wal Restaurant.
Summary: A decent 3-star stay with good basics but some service and comfort issues.
