Welcome to your home away from home!
Our lil home in the woods is the perfect, peaceful getaway. It's about 15 minutes from Lake Arrowhead, in the the serene San Bernardino Mountains.
Whether you want to cozy up on the couch with a good movie or book, or you'd rather go on an outdoor adventure like a hike and just have a convenient place to crash, our place has everything you'll need for a comfortable stay.

The space
Our home is bright and open, with the entire front-facing wall made of windows. It is truly the best when you wake up, step outside the bedroom, and the first thing you see is the forest through the massive front windows.
We put a lot of love and care into our home, to make it comfortable and serene. We hope you enjoy it!
Guest access
You will have the entire place to yourself. The bedroom you'll be staying in is upstairs. In the bedroom, there is a dresser with space for your clothes as well as a closet with hangers. We have no AC in the house, but there is a fan with a remote control that you'll find in the closet. You will also find a small ironing board in the upstairs closet.
The upstairs bedroom also has an attached bathroom. The master bathroom has all the necessities, like towels, wash cloths, shampoo, conditioner, toilet paper, and soap. You will also find a hair dryer and an iron under the sink.
Downstairs, you will find the living room, dining room, kitchen, and another bathroom.
The living room has a TV and Roku provided. On the Roku, we have Netflix, HBO, Amazon, etc. Feel free to kick up your feet and watch TV whenever you'd like.
The kitchen includes oil and spices above the range. Up and to the left of the range/right of the sink, that's where you can find plates, bowls, mugs, glasses, etc. Down and to the left of the sink, that's where you can find pots and pans.
In the upper cabinet to the left of the fridge, there is tea & coffee as well as honey & splenda provided. The coffee maker sits on the counter to the left of the dishwasher where you'll also find some goodies:)
In the cabinet above the toaster, there are granola bars and extra masks. Feel free to help yourselves.
The downstairs bathroom has all the same necessities like soap, shampoo, etc. but in addition to the basics, this bathroom has a tub as well! Feel free to take a rub-a-dub-dub in the tub-a-tub-tub, if you'd like. It's so relaxing to take a bath after a cold, winter day or after a nice long hike.
We also have a deck outside which is great for relaxing with a book, eating a meal, or taking a nap. We really love spending time out on the deck. We only ask that if you bring food outside, please bring it back inside before the night. We do live in a forest after all ;)
As we are on a mountain, our driveway is pretty steep. If you don’t want to drive all the way to the top of the driveway, you can park on the street (to the left or right of our driveway) as long as you make sure to stay close to the side so people driving by can pass. If you don’t want to stay on the street, you can still park at the bottom of our driveway out of the street. Our guests do this sometimes when they don’t want to drive all the way up.
If you look through our photos, you'll see where you can park at the top of the driveway. Our driveway can easily fit two parked cars. If you park on the right side (when facing the house from the street) there is a path of stairs leading up to the house. This leads directly to the green-doored entrance with the lockbox, where you'll enter.
**Please note that once it starts snowing you can’t park on the street because the snow plow comes and you may be ticketed/towed. During the snow, you can use the bottom section of our driveway if making it to the top is an issue for you.
There is a picture of the driveway with circled parking spots as examples that becomes available in the “Check-in Instructions” close to your arrival. If you have any questions about the parking situation or accessibility, please let us know!
Other things to note
** Important: If you lose the house key provided at check-in, there is a fee of $150, as we will have to change all the locks and get new keys made on short notice so our next guests can still have a key. Please don’t lose the house key!
** Please note that during the winter season, it snows! This past winter season it snowed quite a lot. Be prepared to have chains and a car that can handle driving in the snow! There are checkpoints on Hwy 330 during the winter to make sure drivers have chains and if they don't, they're not allowed on the mountain. Besides that, it's trickier to drive in the snow than dry, so be safe if you decide to come up when it's snowing. It is stunning up here when it's covered in a blanket of white!
** With snow, comes shoveling! ;)
We are not at the property whatsoever when guests are, so if snow comes down during your stay, you may have to shovel your car out. We have a few shovels that we leave out during winter, in case you do need to shovel your car out. The snow plows are extremely fast about plowing our street after each snowfall, so you wouldn't have to shovel anything but your own car.
We do live in the forrest, but we do have neighbors. Please let us know if the neighbors are disturbing your stay in any way, as we do have each of our neighbors' contact information and would be happy to contact them on your behalf. We have very lovely, quiet neighbors so this shouldn't be an issue, but if it is, please be sure to let us know! On the same token, please be respectful of our neighbors by being mindful of the sound outside at night.
We don't have AC, as per the listing, but we do provide a fan and the house gets great airflow. We do have a great heater for the winter, though, which heats up the house in minutes.
Lastly, if you want to be featured on our home’s Instagram page (@yay.frame), send us pictures from your stay!! We love seeing them and would love to share them:)

Summary: Communication and response from owners was great. We ran into an issue with hot water and they were fast to respond. The driveway is understated when they says it's steep. Our hatchback did get up it, but not without some bumper and fog lamp damage. :/ We have stayed in several homes with steep mountain drives and this one was by far the steepest and if it gets icy I could not imagine. They mentioned parking at the bottom, but with the snow along the street I am not sure how we would have accomplished this. Perhaps this is easier with clear streets, but I wish more info was given ahead of time on the app with the check in information. Luckily we caught the neighbors outside as we were shoveling the snow off the steps to get up to the front door, and they said we could use their driveway when we left, both driveways are connected at the top. That being said, the neighbors house is right next door which we typically try to avoid but this time worked out for the driveway. Only really one neighbor on the side due to the location on the hill, but it was not pictured in the listing. The bedroom has a sliding door that opens to a small balcony which faces a house behind the property. The large front windows are overlooking the rest of the homes across the street so you can not really see those which was nice. It looks out at large pine trees and if it's clear over into the mountains in the distance. We like properties that are more secluded because our home is very packed into the city, but this one was not bad by any means. The house was very clean and the bed very comfortable. Fireplace worked perfectly, and the market in town had plenty of wood at a decent price. We got the take and bake pizzas from Lou Eddie's (it's a must!) and there was a perfect cast iron insert in the oven to bake them on. Overall we had a great trip.
