The Space:
The Cottage was built in the early 1600’s and was one of the first built in the village. The character of the cottage shines through in the original wooden beams and feature, open fire.
The living area at the cottage is home to two comfortable sofas; one fabric and one leather and fabric, a wooden coffee table, and a beautiful open fire. After a day of exploring you can enjoy a peaceful evening of rest, catching up on your favourite shows, whilst listening to the relaxing sounds of the crackling fire.
For those travelling with 5 guests, there is an additional folding chair which can be used in the living or dining room.
The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could need to prepare home cooked meals including an electric hob, oven, grill, microwave toaster and kettle. All cookware, dinnerware and utensils are provided. With the added luxury of a coffee machine, you don’t need to leave the house for your morning coffee.
Sharing the kitchen space is a dining table with four, high backed dining chairs. The perfect spot for enjoying meals with your loved ones.
Looking out onto the garden, you can open the patio doors and let the fresh Yorkshire air flood in.
Take the stairs to the first floor and you will find the three bedrooms and the bathroom.
The master bedroom at The Cottage is a cosy space with sloped ceilings and solid wood furniture. Featuring a comfortable double bed, you can enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep.
The second bedroom is a single room with a neutral colour palette, featuring pops of colour in the soft furnishings.
The final bedroom is a small double bed, suitable for one adult or two small children. This bed has a purpose made ladder to access the bed. This bedrooms increases the occupancy of The Cottage to five if you are travelling with children.
The three beds are dressed in plush bedding and luxury linens so your only challenge at The Cottage will be getting out of bed each morning. With clothes storage in each bedroom, you can really feel at home during your stay.
The bathroom is spacious and light. With a bath featuring an overhead shower, WC, basin with vanity mirror and a heated towel rail.
The well-kept garden at The Cottage features both a patio and grassed area. Lush greenery makes this space feel private so you can enjoy meals alfresco in the warmer months.
Host & Stay are committed to our owners that their homes are protected during bookings. For this reason, we require all of our guests to transfer a £250.00 Damage Deposit (subject to a £10.00 administration charge) or, to purchase an Accidental Damage Waiver for £25.00 which will cover you for up to £500.00 of accidental damage during your stay.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the full property. The property is self check-in and the keys to The Cottage are accessed via a key safe box. Full details will be provided prior to your stay.

The local area can be explored by car, on foot or by bike. With routes suitable for all abilities, you can enoy the beauty and picturesque views of North Yorkshire with The Cottage as your comfortable base.
The village of Staxton is located perfectly for exploring the seaside resorts of Filey and Scarborough, as well as the market town of Malton.
In Filey, you’ll find a long stretching beach and charming town centre. Filey has some impressive rock pools to explore and also marks the start/end of the Cleveland Way Trail.
Packed with seaside charm, you’ll find plenty of pubs, restaurants and cafes to discover as well as arcades and ice cream parlours in Scarborough.
There are a number of beaches for you to choose from. The popular South Bay is a sun trap and close to the hustle and bustle of the town centre. North Bay has been accredited with Blue Flag status meaning it’s one of the best beaches in Europe! Cayton Bay is the quietest of the three and boasts a sweeping bay with a rural feel. Lastly Cornelian Bay is the remotest and hardest to get to but it’s a hidden gem and often empty.
Ideal for all weathers, there are lots of indoor attractions in Scarborough for the whole family. Head to Sea Life Sanctuary to see seals, penguins, sharks, turtles and more or Scarborough Castle to explore its 3000 year history. If it’s outdoor fun you’re looking for, The Open Air Theatre is a short 15 minute drive from the apartment where you can see amazing bands, singers and comedians. There is also the Sky Trail Adventure and Peasholm Park nearby.
Getting Around:
Staxton is served by regular Yorkshire Coastliner buses, which offer connections to Scarborough, Filey, Malton, York, Leeds and other destinations in-between.
Although there is no train station in the village, the North TransPennine line passes by the village connecting Scarborough and York. The nearest railway station is in Seamer.
