Unplug and escape for your own personal retreat in our charming balinese rooftop off grid cabins overlooking the narrows, a small waterfall and swimming hole on the Kikala Stream. The three cabins have an identical floor plan and feature private bathrooms, wet bar, lanais overlooking the rainforest and are walking distance to the community center where you will have access to laundry, communal kitchen facilities, additional bathrooms and the yoga and meditation hall. The cabins are a short walk down to the main waterfall and larger swimming hole.Just minutes from downtown Hilo, our charming cabins are situated alongside the Kikala Stream, with access to an amazing private waterfall with a midnight blue swimming hole and over a half mile of private riverfront nature preserve. Native birds and the Hawaiian hawk make their home here in the native forest. Let the sounds of the waterfall and the fresh tropical air rejuvenate you.The tropical mountain beauty that will surround you here is unsurpassable, and the views are breathtaking. The most spectacular waterfall and swimming hole of the Kikala preserve is just a short walk from the cabins, and unlike other locations, the river runs right through the middle of our farm, so we can offer you access to over 1/2 mile of private stream front with incredible vistas that rival National Parks. The electricity-free cabins afford a deep restful sleep, with nothing but the sound of the river to lull you to sleep. They are the perfect space for a contemplative personal retreat.We also have a herd of friendly goats, fruit trees and meadows with wonderful outdoor spaces to relax. Please note that all outdoor spaces are shared. While our waterfall is private, meaning that it's entirely surrounded by 14 acres of pasture and jungle that we own, the waterfall is not for exclusive use of the guests. This is a hosted rental, meaning that the host lives on the property and is available to handle any issues for you. Other guests and residents also stay on the farm and have access to the river and waterfall.Our farm is a working farm, with goats and fowl. You will hear the animals and may also meet members of our farm Ohana.We live in a beautiful pastoral part of Hamakua Coast just North of Hilo at 1,600 feet elevation where the climate is perfect with incredibly pleasant balmy days and cool nights. You will be comfortable in shorts and T-shirt and you will not need AC. Even though we are only 15 minutes drive from lively downtown Hilo, you will feel like you are on a secluded retreat in the mountains overlooking the ocean, complete with waterfalls, swimming holes and nature preserve.You will need a car to get around, there is no public transportation available in Hilo.We are a 100% smoke-free farm. Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the property.Our farm is situated at 1,600 feet elevation which tempers the tropical heat and provides an incredibly pleasant climate with a temperature range of 72-80F during the day and 66-70F at night. Expect a mix of sunshine, clouds and rain pretty much every day. This is a Cloudforest, so also expect a mix of sun and rain showers, and occasional midst.
