Please note that this is not a house for partying in any way, shape or form. Nestled in the woods, away from the highway and city bustle, the three bedroom retreat is adorned with unique aquatic fixtures including a retired sailboat mast overlooking a private landscaped trail to the beach. Skylights and floor-to-ceiling windows provide abundant natural lighting over the hardwood floored and modern furniture adorned common spaces. Have lots of cooks in the family? Worry not. The sizable kitchen with plenty of cabinets has space for anything and everyone. For those who do more eating than cooking, there is a large bar with seating for the whole family. Make it a more formal meal in the mirrored dining room fixed with an elegant and bright atmosphere, almost as if it is two rooms in one. Enjoy the sights and sounds of lake life by cozying up in the master bedroom with full access to the back deck. The other naval themed bedrooms and wicker textured hallways give the sensation of a real ship berth. Vintage art and built-in relaxed seating allows for respite throughout the house. A secluded study with expansive book cases sits amongst the bedrooms, as well as several large closets. Let the sound of the waves wash over you with a night in the bunk beds in the screened-in porch. Feel free to take one of the bikes in the furnished garage for a cruise around Harbert’s many antique shops and unparalleled restaurants. Just a short jaunt inland, and you can savor the flavors of the Swedish bakery & restaurant, Luisa’s Cafe or the classic Middle Eastern fare from Cafe Gulistan. Whatever the needs are, this dreamy beachfront property is the ultimate attraction for those looking for that singularly tranquil getaway Here is a review from the first guest of June 2018: "This rental home is a pure delight. Our visit began near sunset, with the huge lakefront deck serving as the perfect spot to watch the sun slip into the ripples of Lake Michigan. The moment was made even more special when 3 deer strolled through to share the night with us. The 3 bedrooms boasted brand new linens with down comforters, great pillows and mattresses and huge windows. There were plenty of bath towels, beach towels, beach chairs, umbrella, kitchen utensils and books to last the summer through. And how lovely to have luxurious peppermint hand soap at every sink! We are foodies and enjoy cooking while on vacation. The kitchen met our demanding standards - not one thing we needed that the owners hadn't thought of! We all really liked the layout of the house, where there were plenty of large, common areas but also corners and niches to grab a bit of personal, private time. The office, sleeping porch, bonus room, bikes and sunset porch were pleasant surprises. Central air conditioning was really helpful, especially during the hot afternoons. The technology onsite was great. Wi-fi access was easy and reliable (except on the beach itself); Roku and Netflix were already set up on several brand new, large TV's. We adored the mid-century style, authentic beach-style furnishings and overall feel of the house. The owners could not have been more delightful to work with. Their tip sheet answered every question we had - and many we didn't know we had, too. Wish I could go back tomorrow!"
