Positive: We booked a unit for 2 nights for a quick getaway from Kampala, where we live. We just avoided the beginning of the high season (which is said to be July-September, when the lodges in the park receive a lot of guests from Europe, the US, etc.). So, we were the only foreigners staying at the facility when we stayed. The lodge was always nice and quiet, and the staff members were quick to respond to all our needs. Some of the things that we were particularly happy about include, but not limited to the following: Game Drive - the lodge has a licensed guide/ranger and safari vehicles. The ranger, named Moses was very knowledgeable and provided a very comfortable and enjoyable game drive for our family. He maximizes the chance to see rare animals like lions by communicating with other guides/rangers in his network to identifies the whereabouts of the animals. Staff - it is a child-friendly environment with staff members who are always willing to be attentive to children. There is also a small play room with toys to keep small children occupied for a while. The owner is also very hospitable.
Negative: We were very happy overall, but here's a few tips to help future travelers plan ahead. Food - Although buffet is available for breakfast, lunch and dinner, you may not have other options depending on the time you plan to stay. Many items on the a la carte menu were not available when we stayed (mid-June). Although buffet is a convenient option particularly for the visitors who plan to pack their day with activities outside, it may be good to check with the reception in advance for the food options for small children or those with dietary restrictions. Power - Many facility is run by solar power and depending on the season, power outage is expected at times (it is normal in Uganda). We experienced power outage in our cottage in late night and early mornings. I'd advise you to carry a power bank to keep your phone and camera batteries charged for the next day.
Summary: A fine accommodation which has a lot of activity options to offer in the middle of the park
