Villa Asteriskos - Three Bedroom Villa, Sleeps 6 | Villa in Apokoronos

3 Bedroom Villa in Almyrida, Apokoronos
A great location close to Almyrida, a private swimming pool and a games room with table tennis make Villa Asteriskos a fantastic option for families with young children or teenagers, while the incredible views of Souda Bay and the White Mountains are the perfect backdrop for a romantic honeymoon. The cool, rustic interiors with exposed wooden beams and stone details have their own characterful charm, but the real allure of Villa Asteriskos is the panoramic sea and mountain views. The hillside location of the villa overlooks the natural beauty of the area, which you can enjoy from the private swimming pool and dining table on the terrace. There is also an outdoor kitchen surrounded by trailing jasmine- the perfect place to cook a meal with homegrown vegetables from the villa garden. The local area Alymrida is between a 15 to 20 minute walk away from the villa. You can go there to pick up fresh bread from the bakery, or to enjoy a meal of freshly caught seafood in one of the excellent waterfront tavernas. Teenagers are welcome in the handful of low-key bars, which are close enough to the villa for peace of mind while adults enjoy a peaceful evening on the terrace! For families with small children, we recommend driving to Alymrida – it only takes 5 minutes and children can save their energy for playing on the three beaches in the area. There are both pebble and sand beaches, and there is equipment hire and tuition for windsurfing if you are feeling adventurous. Lake Kournas is a 35-minute drive away and boar hire is available in Kalves, which is a 5-minute drive away. For those wanting to explore Crete further, there are many traditional inland villages on the Apokronos, such as Plaka and Gavalochori. From Chania Airport - approximately 55m Step 1 Once you have collected your car from the airport, leave the airport and continue along a straight road for about 500m until you reach a junction, where you turn left signposted to Chania (Hania, Chania and Xania are different spellings of the same place). Continue along this road until you reach a roundabout. Turn right here and continue along the main road, after you pass through Pithari you will come to a roundabout (7km) (take 2nd exit) signed Souda. Follow this road as it drops down to Souda Bay, passing Souda Bay Cemetery on your left (12km). Step 2 Continue on the flat for a further kilometre, through the outskirts of Souda until you reach a set of traffic lights and a large SYNKA supermarket on the right. Turn right at the lights and after approximately 200 metres there is a signpost marked “Rethimnon 56, Iraklion 136”. Signal left, and turn into the wide road, with a BP garage after 100m on your right. Continue along this dual carriageway for 800m from the turn and go under the bridge. Immediately turn left, following the sign for “Rethymnon” This slip road takes you on to the main E90 highway (approximately 20 minutes travelling time so far). Step 3 Join the highway and continue your journey. You will pass turnings for Souda and then for Aptera/Stilos. The next exit junction on your left will be for Kalami/Kalyves (23km). Ignore this junction and carry on for a further 5kms to the next Kalyves junction and bear off to the right. At the bottom of the exit slope, turn left back under a bridge heading into Kalyves. Continue for 1km passing a petrol station on your left. Turn right at the T junction signed to VAMOS (you will see a laundry on your right just before the turn). Step 4 The road bends to the right after 100m, then left, then right, and on the next bend, after 800m from the laundry, turn LEFT signed ALMYRIDA. Continue another 2.8km and turn RIGHT (there is a shop called “Gelateria Ice Cream” and “The Pear Tree”, on the corner, the turning is just 200m after the Almyrida village signpost). Continue 200m to a junction with a large pole in the middle of the junction! There are two roads DIRECTLY in front of you leading straight-away. Head straight on taking the RIGHT-HAND road of the two options. Do not turn left or right at this junction. Step 5 You are now on quite narrow village roads. Drive straight ahead for 200m and the road bears to the right and filters into a road from your left. Continue and head uphill bearing left on the tarmac road. After 600m turn RIGHT onto a narrow road (Simpson Travel sign). After 300m, almost to the end of the road, turn right towards Villa Asteriskos. Once you have turned off the road, after 40m turn left through the gate, bear right, Asteriskos is the highest of the two villas, and you can drive straight up to the villa and park. Welcome to Villa ASTERISKOS From Heraklion Airport - approximately 1hr 45m Step 1 After you have collected your car from Heraklion Airport, you will leave the departure area, and make your way to the traffic lights. This will take you onto the National Highway. Follow the National Highway West bound, skirting Heraklion. You will reach a set of traffic lights and go straight across. Step 2 Follow the signs for Rethymnon continuing on the National Highway. You will pass various junctions including Agia Pelagia, Bali, and Panormo. Rethymnon will be the next town. You will pass Rethymnon on the right-hand side and you will know you have passed Rethymnon when you drive through the UNDERPASS on the National Highway. This is the only one on the entire highway. Once through the underpass, continue along the National Highway for approximately 36km following signs for Chania. Step 3 Before reaching Chania you will see a sign for Kalyves/Kalami on the right-hand side. Turn off at this junction and at the end of the slip road turn right.
