Positive: We had a simply wonderful relaxing and peaceful ten day stay at Villa Bukit Malas. We were badly in need of some time and space to unwind and this was exactly what the doctor ordered. The property is comfortable and spacious and has a fabulous sea view, not to mention a small, but perfectly situated pool. We spent most of our stay lounging around in the comfortable outdoor area, after spending at a couple of the local beaches, which offer excellent snorkelling from the beach. Our time at the Villa was made particularly enjoyable by the wonderful staff, who came to make breakfast for us every morning and were really friendly and attentive. Communication was smooth and prompt and we could easily message the staff at any time with any questions that arose. The villas are located in Amed, which is about three and a half hours drive from Denpasar Airport. We arranged an airport transfer (both ways) through the property owner Liselotte, which I would definitely recommend. Liselotte and David also run a diving school in the vicinity and my partner also really enjoyed trying out diving for the first time during our stay.
Negative: Hard to fault anything at the Villa, but just to give a bit more info, potential guests should be aware that hiring your own transport will greatly enhance your stay. The staff were easily able to arrange a scooter for us and the hire rate is very affordable. There’s a wonderful French/ Balinese (Galanga) restaurant conveniently located within walking distance and delivery is available for all kinds of food options, so you certainly won’t starve. But having the scooter meant that we could more fully explore the surrounding areas. Be sure to check online for drivers’ license requirements before you travel.
