Slightly further afield, Nelson’s Dockyard National Park is one of five national parks in Antigua. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, this eighteenth-century British naval dockyard is an area of great historical significance on the island, as well as a popular venue for maritime events and activities. For those who wish to experience the magic for themselves, there are plenty of sailing excursions and water-based activities available.
There are plenty of fantastic trekking trails around the island, taking in sandy beaches, rainforests, and dreamlike coastal views. For a challenging hike, put on your hiking shoes and visit Mount Obama, the highest peak in Antigua. From the summit, enjoy the panoramic views, before descending to Cades Bay for a delightfully refreshing dip in the ocean.
