A-Bay is a great beach for family fun, with warm sand and gentle waves in a sheltered location that has its own volley ball court and work out equipment for the energetic. For those seeking relaxation, watch a sea turtle take a nap in the sand as the sun sets.

Another day, head east to see Hilo's awesome Akaka Falls, rainforest, and botanical gardens! Go stargazing on Mauna Kea -- nearly 14,000 feet above sea level (and the tallest mountain in the world, if you measure from the ocean floor!)
Have an extra day or two? You can not miss the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park! If you can swing it, stay a night down at the Volcano House Lodge overlooking the crater! The place is so awesome that you really cannot cover it in a day if you want to go for hikes in the park. Stop at one of the black sand beaches on the way home. There is even a hidden green sand beach if you are really adventurous!
