The House is believed to have been a Farm house built in the late 19th century by a local vineyard owner. Divided into two residences for over a hundred years the history of the house can be seen in the new beams in part of the lounge and the lack of a handrail for the staircase. Local history says that the vineyard owner who had the house built to his specification never completed the house (and staircase) because he lost all his money in the phylloxera epidemic which destroyed most of the vineyards in France. The history of the house is still seen in its name which means 'beautiful well' and reflects the tiny well in the grounds and is the name of a Bordeaux wine for which the region is famous together with its other celebrated drink - Cognac.The house itself is spacious and airy and would suit a group holiday as there are 3 living areas and four double bedrooms with four bathrooms including a bath and 2 showers.
