Positive: It was the kindness of Amélie herself that really made this stay memorable. She went to great lengths to make me welcome - even to the extent of lending me her microwave! She brought a great breakfast to my door in the morning and was very flexible about the check-out time. The room itself is tastefully renovated - the bathroom is particularly well done. There is an outdoor kitchen area in the garden, but in the cold of January, this was not really useable.
Negative: There are no kitchen facilities in the room itself. The property description said there was 'a bar'. But in reality this was just a tiny fridge in the room with some soft drinks in it. Clearly this was a simple issue of translation, but it was just as well I had brought some beers with me! There is nothing at all around the place in terms of restaurants, bars etc. So unless you want to drive, you're kind of stuck there in the evening. The place is also quite difficult to find, especially at night - even if your satnav tells you you have arrived, there is no sign or any other distinguishing feature to convince you that you have. The location is generally peaceful and quiet, but it's also right next to the road - even though this is a country road, the locals drive pretty fast along it, so you can never really forget that it's there.
Summary: Pleasant country-style stay with extremely kind host, but isolated. Better in warmer weather...
