Explore a 3-Day Amazon Jungle Tour in Tongariro National Park, Manawatu - Wanganui

Summary: Our guide Ciro was amazing. He and our driver Daniel were great bird finders and stopped along our drive to show us when they spotted something. The night walk with Ciro was an incredible experience. He is a very knowledgeable naturalist and a good host. We felt very comfortable with him leading the way. The food was really well done, especially considering we were in the middle of nowhere. The planning and preparation to make sure everything ran smoothly was impressive.

Summary: We took a really short trip to Manu Jungle, but our guide Jack made it really special. His passion for wild nature is infectious!! He gives a lot of curious information about the species we spot, the flora we see and the park! Just to give you a hint, in a picture below you can see him showing us how native tribes do suture using ants, which was insane! We spend the first day with another group doing a longer trip and he was definitely the best spotter.

Summary: Great experience. We had an amazing 2 days trip and we enjoyed everything about it. The program, the food, the lodge, the bus, our amazing driver and the best guide, Jack, who does his job passionately and tries so hard to spot the animals and show us what is possible to be seen. You have to do it.

Summary: Wow. This was an amazing trip. Our guides Alexis and Luis were great. The staff at the lodge were great too. They made amazing meals. Alexis has so much knowledge to share. Every creature and tree he knows. He took amazing photos for us. He is the best guide. Luis navigated the roads like a pro. 11/10 recommend this trip.

Summary: Franco was a great guide. Friendly and very knowledgeable in the local flora and fauna. We were amazed how he could spot birds that were next to impossible to see. Franco and the other employees made our trip to Manu one to remember.

Summary: We’ve had an amazing trip into Manu NP with Wild Watch Peru, with lots of memorable challenges and lasting impressions. The staff ( Pia, Alex, Franco, Amerigo) were all wonderful, knowledgable and professional and made sure we had a great time. Truely an unforgettable experience!

Summary: I expected Machu Pichu to be the highlight of our two weeks in Peru, but no – it was our Jungle Tour with Jack. His ability to spot animals and point them out to us? Bind blowing. No idea how he found the tiniest humming birds or most well camouflaged birds. Want to know the name of every single animal you see, from birds to bugs? He’s got you covered there, too. Want to see a rare snake? Jack went out at 9pm to look for it, and then came back and brought us out to it! And he did all of this with the kind of enthusiasm and passion that was infectious. The ride to the jungle from Cusco is long, but they break it up with stops (if you get car sick, take Dramamine). Toilets are not always available when away from the cabins, but the tour guide can help you find spot. The bugs were not nearly as bad as we expected, but bug spray is still recommended and the cabins have mosquito nets (we didn’t need to use ours). All meals are covered and are homemade by the cooks at the lodge, and the meals we had at the lodge were enjoyed with our tour guide on a deck where we could hear the river and continue to see the wildlife around us. Wifi is not available 24/hrs a day, but isn’t the point to connect with nature, anyways? And at the end of the day, you’ll be so tired that you’ll want to rest up for tomorrow anwaysy! A natural landslide the week prior change our original itinerary, but Jack adjusted and we would have never known – the experience was so awesome! My absolute favorite part of the tour was the hummingbird café, because among the dozens of little humming birds, we saw three types of monkeys and the café worker even laid out bananas so we could observe them nicely (from a safe, respectful distance).

Summary: The tour guides were great and the wildlife viewing was fantastic. The lodge is rustic, but the food was great. Our guide, Alexis, was extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife and plant life and loved answering questions from the group. The drive there and back is very long, and road conditions can be out of their control, so my one piece of advice is consider your comfort level with potential stress before you plan your outgoing flight for the same day as the last your day. The tour group was VERY accommodating, and we did make it on time, but one rock slide, etc could have changed that to no fault of their own. Additionally, they did have to change our reservation from a three day to a two day (road construction!) but they communicated ASAP and offered plenty of options to work with us. No complaints at all. Overall we had a great experience with this company and would recommend them.
