Summary: Our day started meeting our friendly guide, Henry. He was very knowledgeable the entire day about the culture, agriculture, local. We had a lot of laughs and conversation the entire day. We stopped at a local convenient store on the way to the first excursion and my family is still raving about the fresh baked goods, especially the breakfast empanadas with beans. Then we went to the sloth tour and saw some sloth, monkeys, frogs, lizards, birds- our guide there was so fun and spotted the animals so quickly. Next we drove to Arenal Volcano and hiked about 1 mile. The view of the top of the volcano was hidden by the clouds. It was amazing to see how one minute we were in dry, brown foliage and the next in a rain forest. The scenery around the volcano was beautiful. Next we had an authentic lunch in La Fortuna. The owner of the restaurant was generous and friendly. Served choice of Pork, Beef, Fish or chicken with rice, beans, vegetables. Everything was cooked well and so flavorful- even my picky eaters cleaned their plates. Next we went to the hot springs. This was the only disappointing part of the trip, it was at a local resort and felt like we were in a warm hotel pool. I may have had high expectations of going into a natural outdoor hotspring. Then we started the trek back to our Planet Hollywood hotel. This was a great excursion but because of the winding roads it is a long day, especially for young ones. Without stops is about 3 hrs from Planet Hollywood. The vehicle was comfortable and very clean. We would do this again!

Summary: This waterfall was a beauty, its worth visiting I never seen anything like that. Great day to get some steps in, not a horrible hike a lot of stairs I think 257 but if you are semi fit, its easy. As for the sloths, we were able to see 3 I was hoping to have a better close up experience but unfortunately they were up in the trees so it was kind of a let down :( But still was a great day out of Tamarindo and into the jungle life!
