Chase the Northern Lights in Yellowknife - Your Aurora Hunting Tour

Summary: It was a cloudy night but Joe drove around trying to find a patch of clear sky. We finally did get glimpses of Lady Aurora and managed to get a few pictures. Throughout the tour, we were entertained and educated hearing Joe’s stories about indigenous culture. We even learned the use of the term “hunting for northern lights” was first coined by Joe himself to reflect his indigenous background. Thanks for a great evening!

Summary: Unfortunately the weather was cloudy but our guide and driver worked really hard and eventually we got to see the light show. So looking forward to seeing the photos Elizabeth took.

Summary: Our guide Joe showed a wealth of experience, hunting for and finding aurora sightings on a difficult cloudy night, moving locations both east and west of Yellowknife. Joe knows his craft well and provided a wealth of knowledge, both of auroral activity and local history and was most entertaining. Couldn't recommend his service more highly.

Summary: We couldn’t have chosen a better aurora hunting tour to go with. We loved our aurora hunting tours. We had 2 nights of great shows. The maple cookies are so good and Lilian’s stories and singing are top notch. We had the best drivers, too. From their office staff to the guides and drivers— everyone was so accommodating and helpful. Highly, highly recommend!

Summary: Our neighbor, Jeff, has been on several North Star Adventures and highly recommended North Star to my husband and me. He said as the only indegeneous tour group he found them highly responsive and educational. We agree! We opted for the four day premier package and enjoyed all of the tours, smaller van groups for light hunting, and the dining spots were amazing. Saige, our guide, worked extra hard to find the lights on an overcast evening. Late into the evening she spotted a green sliver between the clouds. The driver pulled over and we had a short walk to a lake where the reflection on the water enhanced our viewing experience. Saige encouraged us to move to different spots for maximum viewing and took photos of us that were better than any selfies we would have taken. The trip was perfect. Thank you to the entire team!

Summary: Can’t thank North Star Adventures enough for the amazing trip! Saige and Raj were filled with knowledge of the northern lights and the hot chocolate and cookies were delicious! We didn’t feel rushed at any of the sites we visited. 10/10 recommend if you want an intimate Aurora viewing experience! Also, special thankyou Saige for capturing our special moment under the Northern Lights, it’s a night we will never forget. 💍

Summary: Thank you to the group at North Star Adventures! Despite mother nature not necessarily cooperating with us, it was still a beautiful evening chasing the Aurora's. I loved, in particular, our guide sharing songs and calling out for the auroras.

Summary: North Star is the best, most knowledgeable, and most authentic tour in Yellowknife. Everything about the tour was wonderful. Our guides knew all the spots, and we also learned a lot about local culture. Highly recommend!
