Summary: From the moment we arrived, our delightful hostess welcomed us with open arms and enthusiasm for her island’s cuisine. She guided us through the vibrant process of preparing coconut rice and peas, a tropical salad bursting with flavor, and perfectly cooked Creole fish. We learned not just how to cook but the cultural significance behind the ingredient, such as bamboo sprigs, ripe avocados, and freshly caught fish. You could feel the pulse of the island in every chopping sound and simmering pot. It was a hearty plunge into Dominican life and folklore.
