Summary:
Arrived at Basel airport with my daughter and niece for a Christmas market day which didn't disappoint. Munsterplatz was very lively and vibrant selling Christmas decorations and presents, along with various food and drink stools along the way. The High Street was close by with loyalty of shops, mainly designer. The bridge was lit up early evening and over the other side, more shops. In my opinion this was a great day out and well worth a visit.

Wonderful Christmas market, the stalls are close together as you would expect at a cozy Christmas market. All are beautifully decorated, festive atmosphere.
There are 3 of them. At Barfüserplatz and Münsterplatz, food and stalls, and then the Adventsgasse on the other side of the Rhine (10 minutes walk in between, through beautifully decorated streets and bridges) there you can eat and drink, everything your heart desires.

Don’t do it. A real let down as someone who has visited dozens of European Christmas markets over the years.
I was expecting a lovely charming old Swiss town full of character and charm. It’s like Manchester on steroids. Very industrial and the markets aren’t markets, tiny very basic and not worth the cost.
Seriously if it’s the magic and charm of Christmas you’re looking for then Basel isn’t the place.
Won’t go again and definitely would not recommend given the dozens of other places you can go such as Prague Kraków etc
