Summary: When I first signed up for the Everest Base Camp trek with Icicles Adventure, I expected a challenging journey and breathtaking views. What I didn’t expect was how deeply personal and memorable the experience would become all thanks to the amazing people who made it possible, especially our guide, Sarala. We were a team of three girls from completely different backgrounds, but somehow, we gelled instantly. There was an unspoken understanding between us , laughter over endless cups of ginger tea, shared exhaustion after long days, and through it all, Sarala was the heartbeat of our group. From the moment we met her, Sarala’s warmth and energy instantly stood out. She had this calm confidence that made everyone feel at ease, even before we took our first steps on the trail. Over the next two weeks, she became so much more than just a guide she was our biggest cheerleader, caretaker, and friend in the mountains. There were days when the trek tested us be it steep climbs, long hours, or thin air but Sarala’s presence made it feel lighter. She was such a sport and so fun-loving that even during tough stretches, laughter somehow found its way back into the group. What impressed me the most was her attention to everyone’s well-being. She’d quietly check if we were drinking enough water, eating properly, or showing any signs of altitude sickness. She noticed the small things before we even said them aloud. That level of care made a huge difference we felt safe, supported, and seen throughout the trek. It never felt like we were just following a guide, it felt like we were trekking with a friend. The Icicles Adventure team also deserves so much credit as everything was flawlessly managed. The porters were kind and hardworking, and the company made sure every aspect of the journey was handled with professionalism and heart. You can tell they truly love what they do and genuinely care about their trekkers. Reaching Base Camp felt emotional, but what made it even more meaningful was the journey itself, the laughter, and the countless moments shared along the way. I’m incredibly grateful to Sarala and Icicles Adventures for turning this dream into such a beautiful reality. If you’re planning to do the Everest Base Camp trek, I can’t recommend them enough. You’ll not only reach Base Camp but also take home memories and friendships that will stay with you forever 🩷
