Summary: Jupiter gave us the best tour of our 10 day trip in the region. Even though it was a birding trip, we learned a lot about the geology, history, and culture of the area. Jupiter starts out rather serious but we were all talking a lot by the end of the day. He's the consummate professional, with decades of experience as a guide. He went over and above our expectations at every turn. The places he chose to take us birding were beautiful so that even those in our group who weren't avid birders enjoyed simply being in nature. He also chose excellent places to have breakfast and a coffee later in the day and even knew the perfect place to get a group photo with the beautiful Volcan de Colima in the background. My vision for birding is more of a "slow birding" philosophy and I wanted to see birds "up close" (in my binoculars) for more than a fleeting instant and I got my wish. I was able to observe many birds doing their morning ablutions, feeding, swimming, and meditating. It was amazing. Extra bonus: Jupiter took and shared many great photos with us as a keepsake. Pro Tip: bring your hiking poles for the first "outing" of the morning as there's a lot of hills and uneven terrain if you're suffering from the elevation or simply unsteady on your feet.
