- You should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness to enjoy trekking in the hills around Kathmandu.
- Bring a windproof outer jacket and a warm down-filled jacket if you’re concerned about cold conditions in higher altitudes.
- Wear comfortable trousers (men) or loose skirts (women) during the day for easy movement on trails here.
- Pack gloves, a hat or cap, sunglasses, sunblock and lip balm to protect against strong high-altitude sun.
- Lightweight trekking shoes and warm woolen or thermal socks are recommended; ordinary socks suffice if you do not feel cold.
- Thermal undergarments are useful for colder nights; otherwise, a tracksuit will suffice.
- Carry a flashlight and spare batteries for evening use in lodges and camps.
- You should train on your own by hiking locally once a week or whenever you’re free to build endurance before the trek.
