With Silaa Safaris you can explore the charming Malindi Museum, a late 19th-century, double-storey “column house” built in the fashion of old coastal towns like Lamu and Mombasa, and since May 2004 it has welcomed visitors to see rotating exhibits including the famous Malindi coelacanth, artefacts linked to explorer Vasco da Gama and displays from the Portuguese period of Kenya’s coastal zone; afterwards you’ll experience an engaging falconry and zoo area where snakes, a giant tortoise and crocodiles share space with birds-mostly hawks and owls-that are allowed to free-fly, and a guide will walk you around the zoo to explain each species, making this a compact, educational outing that you can easily book through Varoom for your Ithumba, Kenya itinerary.

Summary: We had an absolutely amazing full-day tour in Malindi with Silaa Safaris – it was the highlight of our trip! From start to finish, the experience was seamless, informative, and family-friendly. Our guide was incredibly polite, knowledgeable, and professional, always making sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves. We started our day with a visit to the iconic Vasco da Gama Pillar, where he gave us a fascinating insight into its historical significance something both the adults and kids found engaging. Throughout the day, he was patient, warm, and genuinely passionate about sharing the beauty and culture of Malindi. We made a few additional stops along the way that added a personal touch to the tour, including local viewpoints and hidden gems we wouldn’t have discovered on our own. We ended the trip at the stunning Malindi sand dunes, a perfect spot to relax, take photos, and soak in the beauty of the landscape. It was peaceful, unique, and a great way to wrap up the day. I highly recommend Sila’a Safaris for anyone looking for a personalized, safe, and memorable tour experience in Malindi. Whether you're a solo traveler, couple, or family – they truly go the extra mile. We’ll definitely be booking with them again!
