Explore Hamburg's harbor on a 2-hour cruise from Hamburg City Center

Choose a two-hour harbor cruise through the Port of Hamburg and immerse yourself in the maritime energy of Hamburg-one of Europe’s most impressive ports, big enough that the entire city of Cologne could fit inside it and second only to Rotterdam in scale-where modern container terminals and cruise ships meet historic Elbe fishing villages and the lively fish market. On this daily tour you’ll witness the contrast between history and modernity as you sail past old sailing ships, enormous container vessels and the famous Elbphilharmonie, glide through the historic Speicherstadt, and explore the contemporary HafenCity waterfront before spotting the colorful nightlife of the Reeperbahn; aboard a harbor-ready ship you get up-close views of the gateway to the world, making this a memorable Water-Based sightseeing experience that connects your event plans with the best of the city.

Summary: It’s hard to know how this compares to the many options for boat tours available in Hamburg, but we really enjoyed our trip. We took the 2 hour harbour tour. We knew the commentary was in German in advance, and the friendly skipper told us this (in English) as we boarded - he obviously gave an entertaining commentary as there was much laughter amongst the predominantly German tourists on board. We knew about the audio guide app and it did seem to work with an English commentary, but we forgot to bring headphones and quickly gave up trying to listen to it over the sounds of the harbour. I can’t comment on how good the commentary is and I was happy looking at the scenery but if translated commentary is important to you then bring headphones! The trip is quite wide ranging, and you get to see lots of different aspects of Hamburg waterways. The container port in particular was amazing to see up close for me, and worth the cost of the whole thing. It feels like you see less history and more about recent industry but even without a guide I enjoyed the whole experience.

Summary: Very informative tour with great views of the entire Harbour. The tour guide only spoke in German and was quite humorous. You can download their app and select your language preference but you must have ear buds or headphones so you can hear the tour in your language.

Summary: unfortunately there is no English tour guide, but otherwise it is good to go around the harbor. Also good when warm.
