Summary:
We scheduled an afternoon tour with corktrekking and met them at their warehouse in Redondo. It was just my husband and I with the tour guide Chantal.
First Chantal shuttled us over to a local restaurant where we had a delicious meal with other local patrons.
After our meal, Chantal picked us back up and we headed out to the farm. We went down country roads in the company car, windows down. We had beautiful blue skies, but it was a hot day, the air blowing in felt good.
We parked the car at the farm and began our walk. Chantal was a knowledgeable guide. She told us all about the farm, the trees, and the other animals living on the farm. We learned how cork is harvested, how often, and who has this rare harvesting skill.
It was our first time in Portugal, and Chantal also answered lots of questions about what it's like to live there.
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour, and we topped it off with a wine tasting back at the warehouse afterward.
