Join a Mediterranean Masterclass by a Master Chef in Split, Split-Dalmatia

Summary: What a blast! We’ve been to Split a few times and are always looking for new, fun ways to enjoy an evening out. Our 4+ hours spent at the Split Cooking School was definately our best evening. Chef Željko and Sous Chef Darko were fabulous, funny, and very patient teachers. Their English was perfect. There were 6 of us, so we decided to pay the extra fee for a private class because of Covid, otherwise we would have had fun with others too, it was that type of setting. Chef Željko put everyone at ease right from the beginning with homemade brandy, some very nice wines and chitchat. Then we got to work, so many laughs, but we got everything kneaded, scaled, cut, mixed, boiled, and baked. The end result was a very memorable evening. Oh, and bring your appetite because the food was delicious and plentiful too, if I do say so myself.

Summary: Hands down the best cooking class we have ever had. This is the real deal, taught by a true culinary expert. We had so much fun and learned so much about Dalmation cooking. We cooked several fish dishes, using different cooking techniques. We learned to cook two risottos (who actually knows how to make good risotto other than professional chefs -- now us!). Don't miss this opportunity!

Summary: Spending the day with Chef Zeljko was absolutely one of the highlights of our 3 week tour of Croatia. We had a private class with our 3 girls (ages 18,15,12) and grandma. The previous reviews describe the details and ours was the same. Chef was so informative on the "inner workings" of the market - which we all found very interesting. We not only learned more about cooking Dalmatian food, but cooking techniques in general. I would HIGHLY recommend. There is not a single thing we would have changed about the day. Thanks Chef!!

Summary: A previous review said this was one of the highlights of her trip. For us - it was THE highlight of the trip. I cannot recommend spending the day with Chef Zeljko Bremec highly enough. He is a master chef trained throughout the world. But - that is not what made the day so great. Chef Zeljko is a really great guy. My wife and I really enjoyed getting to know him as we spent almost a complete day together. It started at 9am - Chef met us at our hotel and we were off to the green market to learn about the fresh vegetables brought in by the local farmers at this market. We then walked across the old town to a fish market to buy the fish we would later filet and cook. We got to know each other a little on the walk, and Chef told us some about the history of the town. Once the shopping was done, it was off the professional kitchen used outside of high season for schooling great chefs of Croatia. Chef is an accomplished award winning chef and the walls were adorned with his many achievements - Including “most original gumbo” on a trip to New Orleans! We spent the day cooking, drinking homemade brandy and local wine, and eating a great appetizer course, and then eating the copious amounts of food we had created. Best cooking class in Split, I promise you wont be disappointed.

Summary: We attended a cooking class held just for our small family group. It was arranged by our cruise ship. Family members level of expertise ranged from my wife (serious amateur, near professional level) to mine (pretty good dishwasher, nothing more.) Chef Alma was able to divide the work up amongst us so we all had something interesting to do, and we all learned something appropriate to our level. The resulting meal was truly great. Chef Alma also has a friendly and engaging personality. We knew nothing about Split or Croatia before our visit, which was a stop on our cruise, but I would say this: it would be worth another visit to Split just to attend this cooking class once more. Don't miss it!
