Book Your Mount Ararat Expedition (5,165 m) - Climb from Kocasinan, Kayseri

Join a thrilling Mount Ararat expedition - an 8-day, 7-night trekking and climbing adventure that starts from the abandoned foothill village of Eliköyü and follows a clearly marked, rocky ridge that deliberately avoids the dramatic drop of the Ulker glacier; the southern route spreads the ascent over three days up and one day down, uses two high camps at 3200 m and 4200 m, and relies on mules to carry supplies to the first camp so you can focus on the scenery and the climb. Above 5000 m you’ll encounter permanent ice fields where crampons, ice axes and ropes are required, and the summit is reached via a long ridge that ends in a rounded hump marked by cairns, offering a pure mountaineering finish to the route. If you’re planning an outdoor, multi-day experience out of Kocasinan in Kayseri, this itinerary combines clear trail navigation, high-altitude camping, and technical glacier access into a single, well-paced expedition ideal for adventurous travelers booking through Varoom.

  • Reach the summit via a prolonged ridge walk across permanent ice fields above 5,000 m, where fixed cairns mark the rounded summit profile.

Important Information

  • This multi-day Mount Ararat expedition mixes trekking and technical climbing: crampons, ice axes and ropes are required for the upper slopes and permanent ice fields.
  • The southern route is spread over three days up and one day down, so plan for steady daily altitude gain and overnight stays at two high camps.
  • Paths are rocky but well defined; expect rugged terrain and sustained exposure on ridgelines - suitable for experienced, fit trekkers coming from Kayseri.

Summary: I have just finished an 8 day tour with Fatih who owns and runs Overland travel. It was a brilliant week - the mix of the mountains with cultural sites in Van after was fantastic. Fatih is very personable and easy to get on with. He can’t do enough for you and is extremely flexible with how the tour runs, if he can make any adjustments he will. His English is excellent and he is always on hand to help. In the Eastern part of Turkey, English isn’t widely spoken and so going with a guide made it so much easier. The price was very reasonable too. I would highly recommend doing this tour or any others with the company. Thanks for an epic week and I hope to do another trip with the company in the not too distant future in another part of Turkey.

Yes. The expedition blends high-altitude trekking and climbing, ridge hiking from Eliköyü, and glacier-edge experience-making it ideal for Adventure & Thrill and Outdoor & Nature travelers seeking a multi-day mountaineering challenge.
This is a demanding multi-day climb requiring high physical fitness and technical equipment above 5000 m. While the route is clearly marked and uses mule support for early logistics, families and groups should assess fitness and experience before booking.
Above 5000 m you’ll encounter permanent ice fields, so you must use crampons, ice axes and ropes. The path below the ice is rocky but clearly marked, and the summit is reached via a long rounded ridge marked by cairns.
The southern route uses two established campsites at roughly 3200 m and 4200 m. Mules carry supplies to the first camp, and the climb is paced over three ascent days to the higher camp before the final summit push.
You’ll reach the summit via a long ridge; the peak itself is a rounded hump marked by cairns. The approach avoids the deep, jumbled gorges of the Ulker glacier by sticking to the ridge from the Eliköyü foothills.
