Summary:
We absolutely loved our evening with Kaori. It was only our second night in Osaka and honestly the food choices here can be overwhelming because there’s so much - this is a brilliant way to find out about local dishes and try lots of different things.
We visited three restaurants and sampled kushi katsu, bbq wagyu beef, gyoza and okonomyaki. Everything was absolutely delicious and it was great to eat in places away from the main tourist areas.
Kaori was a great host, always making sure everyone had enough to eat and drink, and was able to accommodate one of the group with vegetarian options. It was wonderful to hear the history behind some of the dishes and how things have changed over the years.
I’d really recommend doing this tour in Osaka, especially on one of your first nights as it’s such a brilliant introduction to this lively city!

We did the Flavours of Osaka tour with Kokoro. She was a wonderful guide who took us to three different restaurants to sample some local foods and drink. First was wagyu beef bbq where Kokoro explained how to enjoy each cut of meat in a variety of ways, accompanied by a lemon sour (delicious). Next was a restaurant that specialised in tempura, again absolutely delicious. Kokoro made sure that every taste was catered for and nobody went hungry! Our final stop was yakisoba and Okonomiyaki accompanied by Japanese whiskey and sake. For those with any room left there was a quick stop on the way to the train to grab an ice cream! Kokoro was a very energetic, friendly guide and it was a real pleasure to spend the evening with her. I would highly recommend this tour if you are in Osaka and want to experience where the locals eat.
