Summary: Fantastic working oyster farm tour where i realised I knew absolutely nothing about oysters and the amount of work it takes to get them onto your plat. Our host was awesome, knowledgeable and fun and the tasting of the delicious oysters afterwards topped off a great morning. Recommend wrapping up well as you are exposed to the elements a lot of the time. Beautiful part of the country too.

Summary: This exceeded all our expectations. Walking along the water’s edge with Connemara’s beauty surrounding us learning all about oysters and how helpful they are to the oceans delighted our whole group. Pia - our fantastic guide - answered all our questions and Molly the dog followed along nodding her agreement. Best of all, I shucked my first oyster. Thanks for a fabulous outing.

Summary: We had no idea that oysters were such an important part of Ireland’s past and current farming life, but when we learned that, we thought it would be fun to try to tour one of the farms. I worried the only tours I was finding were at a bit of a distance from our hotel, so I happened to ask the owner who it turns works directly with this farm, and he called them and arranged for us to join a tour the next day. (I later noticed our guidebook had a blurb about them, but I just had missed it.) Pia was our tour guide – – with about eight other people – – and she was the most engaging and informative person to introduce us to the many facets of this fascinating business; we all loved her! And I tried oysters for the first time, and they were delicious!!
