Progressive Dinner to Island Homes

Summary: This experience is one that I have never before come across in all my years of travelling. Three courses at three different private properties with a history of each property given by the owners. It is unique in my experience. Unfortunately our tour coincided with a tropical storm hitting the island but regardless it went very well. The staff from Pinetrees tours were very good, funny and accomodating. Food was acceptable given we were 44 persons arriving at once. I would definitely recommend this as a tour to be considered.

Summary: Nearly 30 years since our last NI progressive dinner, this one was good fun and had nice food. When he went last time, it featured Pitcairn / Norfolk cuisine which was great - it was a shame this one didn’t include that aspect. Loved “The Pines” as a venue and loved the Tahitian Princess’ storytelling. Deb was a wonderful guide.

Summary: We thoroughly enjoyed this night with local hostesses and host. Alison the Tahitian Princess who prepared a very fresh entree had us in fits of laughter. The bus that transported us to Alison’s niece for the main course was comfortable and clean and capably driven Rebecca. Once again the meal was well presented and delicious. Our desert was back in Burnt Pine. It was a delicious , huge sticky date pudding We would highly recommend this experience with Bounti.

Summary: Great evening of fun, food and listening to Norfolk Island folk, very interesting. We were made very welcome at each of our eating places.

Summary: This tour at three times was fantastic and a highlight of my week in Norfolk Island! Rachel the tour guide was great and the people who spoke about theit lives at the three homes were very interesting! Food and atmosphere were great

Summary: Food was good stories were great. But if u are looking for an intimate dinner in people’s homes this is not it. That didn’t mean it wasn’t a great night but we are talking over 50 people sitting down to dinner altogether - having said that the food was brought out promptly. It was hot and tasty or cold and tasty depending what the dish was. It wasn’t what we were expecting, but we did enjoy our time. Would recommend it to other travellers.

Summary: We didn’t expect to have so many guests. (About 30 in our group-2 buses)It seemed very rushed, and it would have been good if the format, once you arrived, had been better explained. The Hosts were serving 3 sessions that night. So ours started with nibbles and a sherry which was pleasant and plentiful. It felt awkward to sit at the pre-set dinner table knowing it was sort for the next course. The home where the main course was served, had a lovely garden but because of the change in the weather, we were seated on a decked area with cafe blinds and it was draughty. The meals of roast pork was n’t hot, but I understand it’s hard to get 30 hot meals out quickly. The last house the hosts, as all of them, were gracious and happy to share their stories-perhaps a bit too detailed - again it was draughty being outside and the desert, a slice of berry cheesecake was ok but not great. A nice enough evening but I think the both the hosts and guests could have been briefed better. As a visitor I wanted to know things like “how do you manage without basic foodstuffs?/. What about employment? What happens if you get sick? And so on. The hosts did a good job but I think a better description of the evening is warranted. We’ve loved our holiday on NI but wouldn’t do the Progressive Dinner again.

Summary: Interesting stories. Would have liked at the third home for the host to relate real experiences rather than just open the floor for questions

Summary: A great night out, meeting fellow travellers, a guide with a good sense of humour, delicious menu, & tales of the locals. All in all an experience not to be missed.
