Summary: Rita is an absolute pleasure and wealth of knowledge. I appreciate that we had a meeting before I even arrived in Lisbon to talk about what I would like to work on. She prepared all sorts of examples and materials for me to experiment with, knowing that I have a bigger project this will inform later. The piece that I made was to try new techniques and materials and see how they behave and inform each other. I'm very excited to take the new skills and ideas back home. Her space is inspiring and cozy and she has so many materials and ideas for you to work with. I would definitely take a workshop with her again!

Over the course of three hours, I worked on a tabletop loom and got hands-on experience with a variety of high-quality materials, all readily available to use. Rita is a skilled and patient instructor who shares her extensive knowledge of weaving techniques while guiding each step clearly and practically. Her home studio is cozy and inspiring, creating the perfect creative setting. I highly recommend this workshop to anyone who enjoys working with textures and colors—an engaging and rewarding experience!

Summary: My 11-yo daughter and her friend did a 4-hr weaving session with Rita in March 2024. It was absolutely amazing! The two girls got to work on the Ashford Rigid Loom and the Louet Floor loom and produced several beautiful pieces of work. On top of that, Rita told them about the history of Lisbon and played Taylor Swift songs(per the girls' request no doubt) while they worked. I am so happy that we found Rita and Cross Lights. For anyone who's interested in weaving and getting a taste of non-touristic Lisbon, I highly recommend this! Thank you Rita!

Summary: I enjoyed a wonderful ,leisurely walk around the picturesque city of Setúbal,Portugal.Gleaning inspiration, immersed in the new sights ,sounds and textures around every corner ! All was brought into focus and coloured by Lisboncrosslight's deep heartfelt knowledge and passion for the city . There was time to taste and sample the local cuisine ,further stimulating my senses. Under the tutelage of Lisboncrosslights, I was taken through the process of assimilating ideas and colours - leading to warping a low loom frame ( small ) and weaving my first scarf ! Placement of colours was as random as came to me naturally, and I was very surprised and pleased with the resulting scarf ! ( so much so - I bought a frame loom on my return to Edinburgh ! ) I thoroughly enjoyed my weaving experience - thank you again Lisboncrosslights ! David Cochrane.
