Summary:
All my 11 year son wanted to do on our holiday was to have a surfing lesson so we booked a session online with freewave surf academy not really knowing want to expect. The instructor Ruben quickly put us at ease. After some instruction on the beach, they headed out, Ruben helped him choose the best waves and he was super pleased to manage to stand a couple of times. It was clear that Ruben was aware of the changing weather/wave conditions and safety was a priority. My son had a fabulous time - and came out if the sea with a huge grin - job well done! He hasn't stopped talking about it since.

Summary:
Our boys and thier cousins had 3 fantastic surf lessons with Sally at Freewave. Due to flat waves they also did a costeering experience with Glyn, which was thrilling and they even saw a seal. The communication with the academy was clear and timely, giving us options as the weather changed. The boys improved quickly and really enjoyed the experience. I would highly recommend - lovely instructors and great fun!

Summary:
My 11 year old (who was a total newbie - decent pool swimmer but had never stuck more than his toes in the sea) did two surf lessons with Freewave - the first with Ned at Widemouth Bay and the second with Reuben at Summerleaze. Both lessons were excellent and he made huge progress very quickly. Booked and paid online, met easily with clearly marked van at the beach. Admin was chilled but organised, with wet suit in right size provided, and I could watch and take pictures from the beach without intruding in the lesson.
From surfer child himself: "I had wonderful lessons and learned so much about surfing. I was surprised how quickly I was standing on my board and that felt awesome! Both the instructors were really clear and helpful and taught me with directions that were easy to follow. Even when the waves got bigger than expected during the second day, Reuben helped me keep learning and stay safe. I hope I can come back to Bude another time and surf every day for a whole week!"
