Experience Tea Pluckers' Day in Darjeeling, West Bengal - Book Your Tea Garden Visit

Summary: Relaxing day with an excellent Guide (Sunny) and Driver (Kewal). Had a nice gentle walk from the Guest House to the Tea Factory. Learned about tea planting and watched the tea being plucked from the bushes. Then back to the Guest House for a delicious lunch al fresco. Then back to the Hotel

Summary: If you are visiting Darjeeling or Sikkim, please make it a point to take at least one tour with this group. They are absolutely marvelous. We thoroughly enjoyed our walking tours. Summary: Darjeeling Walks (Anirban and Adijte) must be the best Tour Operator in the region! Simply an outstanding tailor-made 2-week holiday for myself and my daughter starting in Darjeeling and then onto Sikkim. Highlights are hard to pin point. I loved the day spent on Ging Tea Garden amongst the tea pluckers learning all about Darjeeling tea. Our guide and drivers took us to various beautiful villages in rural Sikkim with breathtaking views of the Khangchendzonga range early mornings. The flowers of Spring (Rhodedhendrons, azaleas, amaryllis, orchids and many more) were out in their full glory. We spent the days hiking along hidden paths viewpoints, visiting temples ( learning about Guru Padmasambhava) as well as walking through the hillside villages so we could chat to the locals and learn all about their way of life. In the evenings, we stayed in homestays (some eco) which were charming, the families always keen to make sure that we were comfortable and very well fed (daal and locally produced fresh vegetables). In Yuksom, we were even invited to a "mo-mo" making cookery class and afterwards our hostess taught us some nepalese dance moves! At the end of the holiday, we spent a day in Rinchenpong which is incredibly interesting for its position on the silk route, its market still being an important trade centre and the influence of the Scottish missionaries in years gone by. Finally, we explored Nara Valley Wildlife Sanctuary and whilst we did not see any red pandas or tigers, we did visit an impressive waterfall at the bottom of the valley. Sikkim is a very special place that has not yet been spoilt by tourism.

Summary: The tour guide and driver were very kind and informative about the tea and culture of the region. I did the tour of the Ging Tea Estate. It was incredible beautiful and I couldn't stop asking questions and taking photos. The day ended with a delicious meal that was made with my dietary restrictions in mind. I hope one day to do another tour with Darjeeling Walks.

Summary: We did the Tea Pluckers' Day on our only full day in Darjeeling, and we are so glad we chose this experience! Our guide Sunny was delightful to talk to; we learnt a lot from him about the area and its inhabitants. We visited the Tumsong Tea Retreat, which is a 2-hour drive from Darjeeling through scenic routes and tiny villages. The tea estate has an amazing location. We walked around the tea gardens, visited the factory, learnt about the estate, sipped tea in the garden, and had delicious lunch in the beautiful historical building.

Summary: Darjeeling does not mean only Mall road......there are so many things to explore......with Darjeeling walk, we had the chance to connect with the nature, with forest, tea garden, the history of Darjeeling tea ....Hiking through the dense forest was really a great experience as it reminded us our frequent hiking through Schwarzwald in Germany in the past years. Testing the Nepalese cuisine is like a cherry on the cake....... We couldn't see Kanchanjangha because of the cloud, in the monsoon it is not possible to have a clear sky, but monsoon in the hill has it's own beauty. Overall the tour gave a very unique and memorable flavour much different compared to what we heard so far from various frequent travellers to Darjeeling. If you are looking for such an experience don't wait, walk with Darjeeling walk....

Summary: The Tea Pluckers Day tour was everything I had hoped for. A stunning tea estate which I was able to walk around and meet the tea pickers, a guided tour of the factory and the process for tea production, a tea tasting and finally a magnificent lunch at the original colonial manager’s bungalow overlooking the estate and the mountains beyond. My guide Sohom was excellent and extremely knowledgeable about the history of Darjeeling and tea production. All in all a wonderful experience. Thank you Darjeeling Walks!

Summary: Sometimes, destiny works in mysterious ways to bring you experiences you could not have imagined. Discovering Darjeeling walks one day before my trip was one such brush with serendipity. I did not plan anything until the evening before I had to fly to Darjeeling. Quite by chance, I came across an article on the internet that featured Darjeeling walks and took my chances with them. The first day I booked the Walk of Peace with them and we had two wonderful explorers, Yoksang and Sohom accompany us. The walk through the dense pine forests was just the thing I needed to calm my weary mind and soul. Away from the hustle of the main town of Darjeeling, I fell in love with the fresh scent of the forest and the sound of the birds and the bees. So impressed was I, that I booked my second tour with them while being on the first one. The second activity with them was the tea pluckers day. We walked down an entire hill to reach the Tumsung tea estate. It's not necessary for everyone to walk down the hill if you cannot walk but walking down to an estate was a surreal experience. It was my birthday and they took us to the most beautiful English bungalow in the midst of a tea estate to celebrate my day. We had lunch in the pristine garden and all along Yoksang and Sohom made sure we were comfortable in every way. They even lugged a cake for me in the middle of the jungle. They're very considerate and very thoughtful as a team. I cannot wait to explore more with this delightful team.
