Summary: The tour guide Sofia was very well informed and extremely entertaining. I really enjoyed learning about the 5 different types of tequilas. My favorite one would be the one that was free 😆 I enjoyed learning to properly savor the tequila. One small recommendation I would say is to add a few chairs for the elderly at each stop during the tour. My mom would have enjoyed it much more. Otherwise, the entire experience was very memorable. I highly recommend booking a tour.

Summary: The Tequila express is a great experience that takes care of you from beginning to end, providing Tequila pretty much the entire time. My husband and I had a lot of fun and also learned about the tequila process and industry. A few things to note, this is not the train experience. It’s a bus. The bus is comfortable though and it even has a restroom. You meet in Guadalajara and get driven about an hour away to tequila and then head back around 5pm. I wish they provided more complementary tequila options, they only provided our group with 2 types, silver and reposado. I thought that was cheap cause there’s way more tequilas by Sauza. Great ambience! The hosts is amazing, the whole team was. I loved the mariachi and dance performance.

Summary: The tour was an amazing experience. Our tour guide was incredibly funny, knowledgeable, and very attentive to what we needed. I would also like to give recognition to the gentlemen that were serving us the day we went. The palomas were delicious! Food was great upon destination. Overall, a great experience.

Summary: Fantastic tequila tour with knowledgable and passionate staff Firstly, I did a fair bit of research into whether to go with Herradura or Jose Cuevo. Both yours leave on Saturdays only and include train rides, tours of distillery, unlimited tequila and cocktails and a mariachi/folklore show. This is why I chose Herradura and I’m glad I did: 1. Superior tequila (Herradura is in a different league to José Cuevo in my opinion and if you’re going to be drinking tequila all day then you want to drink the good stuff 2. You take the train both ways, with JC you only take it one way and the bus the other 3. 3 course lunch with all drinks etc included with Herradura, with JC you are dropped off in Tequila itself and have to find and buy your own lunch. For between 2200-2800$ MXN with both tours you should get lunch included We went with the first class option at 2600$ MXN but actually wanted to go with Club class for 200$ MXN more, I mean £8 is not a lot when you’ve spent over £100 already. However, Club was fully booked out for a corporate event this Saturday (bad luck as it was available every other Saturday of July) The difference between Premium, First and Club seems to be fairly subtle but it is more or less as follows: Premium - train ride offers carriages which are a bit less spacious with no tables, a slightly less high quality lunch (arrachera instead of vacio steak) First Class - carriages with tables, nicer interior and a better lunch. Also, the tour has considerably less people on it you don’t feel herded along as much Club - has a sofa on the carriage and I think they play games along the way, didn’t see where they were at lunch but possibly better food again though not sure You can see full details of each carriage on Herradura’s website. The day includes: -Expert tour guide -Tour operated in English and Spanish -Free bar: straight tequila or cocktails with Herradura tequila (coffee, orange juice, water, snacks also included) -10am-7:30pm -Roundtrip transfer from Guadalajara to Amatitán by train -Tour of Hacienda Herradura including premium tequila tasting -Mariachi and folkloric show -Three course meal We had so much fun on this tour. The cocktails were creative and interesting, especially on the train ride back as they were citrous or fruit based rather than milk based on the way out. HINT: You can ask for as much tequila as you want, don’t wait to be offered it! I kept ordering additional shots of whichever variety was in the cocktail I was drinking to make it stronger as the cocktails were a little weak at times. I also asked for numerous shots of Selección Suprema throughout the day and it was provided on demand (this bottle retails at around 3,500$ a bottle and over £220 in England) Our guides, Roxana and Priscilla, were both accommodating and passionate throughout and look after you well. A special shoutout to Priscilla who gave the English speakers a VIP tour of the hacienda with only 6 of us on it and who was incredibly friendly and upbeat. It was also lovely to hear that her entire family work at the distillery in one way or another which adds to the sense of community and family we felt at Herradura. This is a brand that invests in their people. The only slight disappoint to a top quality day was the lunch. The starter was flautas with potato and felt a bit cheap as you can buy this on the street for under 10$ MXN and the steak with the main course was overcooked and very dry, I asked for additional salsa to improve the overall flavour. Neither of these courses looked any better than what Premium had and there should be a bigger difference for the additional cost. Overall, this is a day you won’t forget and is fun and interesting throughout, it’s worth the money and I’d do it again! NOTE: Herradura are based in Amatitán which is not in Tequila itself but is another small town nearby so if you’re really obsessed with going to the namesake then you’ll have to go with Jose Cuevo

Summary: this is a very worthwhile way to spend a day. you start off with some tequila cocktails, none of which are too strong. once you arrive you are given the tour/history of Herradura. After that, lunch is offered with a lovely show of folklore dances. Quite lovely. Spend the extra money to be in the nicer cabin, have the lunch, and the show. Well worth the extra~~

Summary: The tequila express to Casa Sauza was great, we were a bit disappointed as the train was our of service, and the tour was by bus, however the tour guide, the barman and the whole experience was great, we learn a lot about Tequila (the place), Tequila (the drink) and the process, we taste different kinds of Tequila and yes, we were drinking from 10.00 am till 6.00 pm. The tour took us to a botanical garden were we plant agave, we went to the plant where the tequila is processed and we end with a Mexican buffet with Mariachi and folkloric dancing. The price is worth it.

Summary: Are you looking for an EXCELLENT first trip exposure to tequila making? This should be it. The train runs only on Saturdays and special occasions. The Herradura Express leaves from the same station as the Jose Cuervo Tequila train but I believe there is no comparison. I suggest the Herradura Express! Once on board the train (first class, club and "premium"), at least in the Club Car you receive a light breakfast meal and then the tequila starts flowing. All types of tequila. Mixed drinks and straight shots. Just tell the wonderful waitstaff what it is you want (you will need to speak Spanish). But it makes the trip feel quite short (about 1.5 hours through the countryside once you get out of the city) and it is all enjoyable. Climate controlled cars (wagons as they are called in Mexico) with a clean bathroom in each car. When you get to the station for Herradura in Amatitan, you board a bus for a short (in distance but all side roads make it about 10 minutes) trip to the Herradura hacienda. Appearances are deceiving. You may think when you get there that it is a small facility. It ain't. BE PREPARED FOR LOTS OF WALKING ON OLD STONE ROADS, ETC. Fascinating tour of the facility with very qualified and helpful tour guides. And even a chance to cut the agave plant (well, only make believe). Interesting how much of the hard work is still done manually. Can you imagine going to work INSIDE OF AN OVEN? When you see the old factory, and realize that 2-300 years ago there was no automation, you will be even more amazed. Then it is time for comida. Lunch. The food was WONDERFUL!!! Made even more enjoyable by the wonderful mariachi band and in our case, the dancers from Guadalajara. Fabulous entertainment combined with an exquisite meal and lots more tequila!! And remember ... the cost of all this is included in the price of the ticket (including tips but trust me, you will want to and should give the waitstaff more ... they work hard for the 11 hours they are with you). Return to the train for the trip back to Guadalajara (rumor has it that the Jose Cuervo trip sends you back by bus - unconfirmed). More free tequila and many games to play. You'll be sad when the day is over. STRONGLY SUGGEST ... good walking shoes for uneven surfaces and arrange for a taxi, etc., to take you back to where you need to be given the amount of tequila you might be consuming. Bring cash for the street vendors. BUY TEQUILA! The prices there in the company store are much better than anything you can get elsewhere. And the artisans will autograph the bottle for you if you want. It will be an experience you remember!

Summary: We went on the Casa Herradura Tour with Tequila Express. Unfortunately the train was under renovation however the bus ride was great. The whole trip was extremely well organised, everything was organised and taken care of. We didn't have English speaking guides until we arrived in Jalisco so the beginning of the day and bus ride was mostly in Spanish but our host made sure we knew we would have an English guide when we arrived. Our guide was fantastic, great english and very knowledgable. After the tour there is lunch (it is late in the afternoon so pack snacks) and performances. Overall a fantastic experience.

The train by José Cuervo Express leaves Guadalajara on Saturday mornings and takes you to the Magical Town of Tequila, where the passengers will be able to know the elaboration of Tequila in the oldest distillery of Tequila in México, La Rojeña; afterwards the tasting of different kinds of Tequila guided by a master distiller; then, enough time to have a delicious dinner in any of the restaurants of the town and walk around through its beautiful streets; finally, a wonderful show of music and dance before leaving Tequila in the José Cuervo Express. A lovely, unforgettable and most original way to enjoy a Saturday!
