Summary:
This was an excellent visit. We were in a small bus of about 22 guests and were guided by Jeni who was knowledgable, friendly and a really good guide. Everyone on the visit was Dutch except us but Jeni was incredibly inclusive giving all the information in both Dutch and English. She ensured that we gelled as a group and we had very good fun.
Pick up was exactly on time and we went first to the medieval castle. Jeni gave us lots of historical information and then we were left to wander. Our only complaint is that we would have liked a lot more time at the castle.
Next we drove round the lagoon to the old windmills for a photo stop and then to a coffee shop for refreshments before heading up into the mountains to the monastery which was very beautiful and interesting.
Our next stop was the village of Karia to a really interesting folk museum. Lunch was in a local taverna. Lunch was included in the visit and was plentiful and tasty. It was good to have time to chat with our fellow travellers. We had time to wander around before the bus back home with one more stop for photos.
Jeni’s informative and entertaining commentary was most excellent and really made the trip.
It was excellent value for money but longer at the castle would have been good.

Summary:
The booking said that as English speakers we would receive written information only. Jenny, the wonderful guide, translated everything from Dutch to English for us, despite being the only two English speakers on the trip.
Got to see some wonderful sites which you can't know the history of by yourself. The itinerary on the website isn't quite in the right order, but this didn't matter in the slightest and it was good heading to the castle first as the openness of the site would be unbearably hot later in the day. Inclusion of lunch keeps additional costs down.
