Summary:
Rodrigo was our tour guide and was also our tour guide to see the neighboring towns of Santa Clara and Pazcuaro. The national park is quite unique because it’s in Urapan and is surrounded by the urban city. You probably wouldn’t have noticed it was there if someone didn’t mention it to you. The park is well kept and extremely nice. We walked around for a little over an hour. Although located in the middle of an urban city the climate inside the national park is mild and nice. There’s lots of shade and the paved walkways make it easy to navigate. Rodrigo made sure we saw every single part of the park and pointed out all of the highlights. The best part for us was the sustainable trout farming directly inside the park and also all the fountains and canals that are naturally powered by the river.
We also visited Tingambato a small archeological site in Urupan discovered recently in the 1970’s. Although it’s small there’s so much history behind it as well including a recently excavated grave which you can see the remains and findings inside the small museum on site.
I really can’t thank Rodrigo enough for spending most of our trip showing us around Michoacán. I really felt like we became friends by the end of our stay and learned a lot about him and the people here.
