Visiting churches of lalibela

Summary: I loved this tour! My guide, Girma, was very easy to communicate with. He picked up me at the airport, quick stop at my hotel to drop off my bags, then onto the tour. We visited half the churches, then had about 2 hours break while the churches closed, then saw the second half after lunch. The next morning, he picked me up and took me to the airport. The churches are very interesting to see! Nothing quite like it in the world. Girma grew up in Lalibela and is an expert. He’s very professional and I had a really fun time exploring with him for the day. Transport is via a new van with air conditioning. Take this tour!

Summary: Absolutely amazing. Looking at photos on -line, reading about them, just doesn't do them justice. Fantastic. Hint: plan one day for the first group of five churches plus St. George's and the other group of five for the second day. Women need to cover their heads to enter a church, everyone needs to take off their shoes.

Summary: I had only 4 days to spend in Lalibela, and little time to plan in advance. I've never taken an organized tour nor used a guide before, but this time it seemed like a good idea. Ethiopia is a hectic place for a tourist who doesn't speak the language, and hiking the mountains alone when there are no waymarked trails might get you in trouble. A friend of mine recommended that I turn to Girma. It turned out to be a very wize choice. We corresponeded on facebook, and Girma devised a plan that suited my schedule perfectly. He took care of everything, from picking me up at the airport and returning me there, to booking a place to stay, guiding a tour in the churches and fixing me with another local guide who spent 3 days with me in the surrounding mountains and villages. He even found for me a hotel that allowed me to pitch a tent in its garden, while using its facilities. I paid for everything through Girma and had no need of bargaining with anyone else, which was a great relief. Above all, as others have noted here, Girma was always attentive to everything I needed, always on time and always trustworthy. I very strongly recommend him.

Summary: I enjoyed a personally guided tour Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Take the 1 hour flight from Addis Ababa and visit these amazing churches of Lalibela hewn into the volcanic stone on this mountain. This is one of the wonders of the ancient world that has remained in use for over 800 years. Simply wonderful. A must see.

Summary: Girma is an amazing guide whose English is near perfect. It makes it so easy to understand him and get the full culture and history behind the churches. He has an amazing personality and you will definitely enjoy being with him. We stayed at the top twelve hotel, and believe me when I tell you that a trip to lalibella is not complete without staying there. all in all I had an amazing time, and i whole heartedly recommend him as a tour guide of choice to anyone.

Summary: I went visiting the Rock Churches in Lalibella with Girma, the guide of the tour agency and he gave assistance all the time and explained much things about the churces and their history. After this good experience, I hired another all-day tour to visit another interesting places around Lalibela. I really recommend them.

Summary: We had a fantastic two day tour of the churches of Lalibela. Girma managed everything for us, picking us up promptly from the airport, taking us to our hotel and then providing a wonderful tour of the churches across an afternoon and the following morning - before taking us back to Lalibela Airport in time for our onwards flight. He was helpful, compelling and made us feel comfortable for the whole trip. We strongly recommend his services - particularly if you're trying to do Lalibela in less than 24 hours!
