Join a Small-Group Wild Current Canoe Adventure in Jasper, Alberta

Summary: Lovely, clear lake to paddle around. We learned lots about the lake history, animal habits and habitats, and local culture. Very knowledgeable and personable guide. Gorgeous scenery.

Summary: We arrived after excellent communication with Mike beforehand. The canoe is a beautiful, hand made wooden and glides effortlessly through the beautiful waters of Pyramid Lake. We were given life vests, blankets to sit on, binoculars (if required) and basic and sensible instructions. Our paddle was just brilliant, Mike spoke about the landscape, the wildlife, the ecology of the region and answered all our questions with humour and obvious enthusiasm and excitement. Although we saw no large animals, the birds were plentiful and Mike knew the calls and info about them all. I cannot recommend this experience highly enough! Thank you Mike, a memorable evening!

Summary: What an experience. From when Mike picked us up to Travis who took us on the beautiful handmade canoe itself, it was incredible. The personal touch / private guide adventure was just what we needed as a family of 4 with two teens. The cruise around the Lake was peaceful, where Travis showed us a few local spots around the water including wildlife and a private beach. Great conversation, local baked treats and beautiful surroundings. Thank you so much, highly recommend this to anyone and if we are ever back in this part of the world we will come back that’s a promise.

Summary: This is the second time we did the trip on pyramid lake with Mike. This time we were joined by our friends. Was absolutely fantastic and real good fun, of course it rained, but this just added to the fun. Lots of laughs and memories made. If there is one thing you do in Jasper make this it you won’t be disappointed. We will be back for a third time I’m sure . Thanks again Mike

Summary: We had an unforgettable experience! Mike was very friendly and knew everything about the lake and the nature around it. We heard (and saw) the wolf-like howl of a loon of a loon echoing across the water, spotted a majestic eagle soaring overhead, and followed it with Mike’s binoculars as it landed gracefully in a tree. We also found moose tracks along the shoreline. The canoe glided silently across the lake while we took turns paddling or scanning the landscape for wildlife through the binoculars — it felt like a real nature expedition. To top it all off, Mike surprised us with delicious cakes and blueberries to satisfy our mid-adventure cravings. We spent 18 days exploring Canada, and this was hands down the highlight of our trip!

Summary: My wife and I recently (June/July 2025) spent a little over two weeks vacationing in Canada. We visited Vancouver, Banff, Lake Louise, and Jasper. We saw some of the most beautiful countryside that God has ever touched; stayed in some of the finest hotels Western Canada has to offer, ate some of Canada's finest food while drinking some truly great Canadian wines. We experienced Great adventures by land and by sea. Without a doubt, however, one excursion stands out above all the rest and that's the few hours that we spent on Lake Pyramid with Wild Country Canoe Adventures and our guide Mike. Sure there are other lakes in Canada that are as pretty or maybe even prettier than Lake Pyramid, and there's certainly no shortage of canoes or guides in Canada. But none of the others have Mike. He's like a professional guide, wildlife expert, gentleman, cook, and best friend all wrapped up into one bundle. If you're planning to be in his neck of the woods and don't book a small group adventure with Mike and Wild Country Canoe Adventures, you'll never know what a truly great experience you missed. Absolutely an experience that we'll never forget.

Summary: Easily a 5 star experience. The guide was knowledgeable and informative who delivered his experience and expertise in a calm and professional manner. It was a pleasure to meet with the guide and half way around he stopped and supplied a picnic made up of local produce which was fantastic. This was not a seat of your pants river rafting. It was a serine tranquil relaxing paddle on the lake. The canoe used was a fantasticly crafted with hand made paddles. A great way to end a hard day’s adventure

Summary: What an amazing experience from start to finish. Communication prior was excellent. Mike really looked after us so well and gave us all a wonderful experience we will never forget! It was just the 3 of us and Mike. We were given clear instructions and could either paddle or just take in the amazing scenery. Mike was very knowledgeable about the local wildlife and we saw moose tracks and a couple of eagles and some loons. Part way through we stopped to stretch our legs and have a hot drink and very tasty snacks. Perfect way the spend a relaxing morning. Don't hesitate - just book it you won't regret it.

Summary: Mike was incredibly patient and encouraging when we had multiple questions before we booked the tour. One of the older members of our group wasn't sure if she was up for a paddle and getting into and out of the canoe. He reassured her that he really meant that she did not have to paddle. Kids and adults that wanted to paddle did and had a good time paddling. We had the lake to ourselves for nearly the entire paddle save a wedding party that canoed to their ceremony. Hearing the loons calls to each other and watching the babies climb off and on mom's back was memorable and it was so quiet--just the sounds of the water and the loons. Snacks and hot cocoa were also delicious. All of the superlatives in the other reviews are true. This was a very special, peaceful magical experience and the highlight of our two weeks in Jasper/Banff area.

Summary: Mike is very knowledgeable and informative. He was flexible to postpone our trip to late afternoon after observing the weather for the day was not good for canoeing. We were lucky to spot a mama moose with 2 babies!! We had a great afternoon thanks to Wild Current Outfitters!
