Experience Xtreme 4-Hour Dune Buggy & Countryside Adventure in Yamasa, Monte Plata

Summary: Xtreme Buggy gave us an incredible adventure from start to finish! Charlie and Marianne were absolutely amazing- friendly, professional, and made sure we felt safe and comfortable the entire time. The buggies were manual, which made the ride even more exciting and hands-on, and they were well-maintained and ran perfectly. The trails offered the perfect mix of adrenaline and beautiful scenery. We got a great balance of thrill and fun, and the whole experience was well-organized and worth every minute. Highly recommend Xtreme Buggy to anyone looking for a heart-pumping outdoor adventure!

Summary: Could get muddy, fun 1/2 day trip, wish we had gotten the full day. Cars are easy to drive and guide was exceptional.

Summary: We all had a big messy blast! Charley, our guide, was great. This is the real deal. 1. You must know how to drive a manual - no rusty drivers. 2. You will get dirtier than you've most likely ever been. 3. You will have a blast. 4. You will be driving through towns, down state roads, mixing it up with traffic (so nice to be in a dune buggy where other cars WILL yield to you for fear that you could care less if you smack your dune buggy into them) fields, and cow poop. This was a great way to get off the resort and actually see some of the real areas of Punta Cana and how people live of the grid. 5. Prepare to get dirty! 6. Both my kids said without a doubt that this was the best excursion.

Summary: What a fun excursion! Super convenient - company picked us up from the resort at no extra charge. We had a great time getting muddy on the buggy! Some tips: Definitely wear something you don’t mind ruining and have somewhere (trash bag) to put your clothes in your luggage to take home. Someone must know how to drive a stick!

Summary: Best Experience for Excursion in Punta Cana! First, Angela was awesome to communicate with through whatsapp and answered all my questions thoroughly. After a $50 deposit was paid, I received all of the transaction and trip instructions quickly. We were picked up promptly at 7:10am from our resort by Charlie, the owner of the company. The van was nice and clean, plus Charlie talked about his German to DR perspective giving insights into the places we were traveling through. He was funny and informational. When we arrived, we went through a quick briefing on the buggies and safety. It was funny and informal and we loved their personalities and passion shining through as they talked about having a great excursion. Then, we got fitted for goggles and for a buggy that fits the driver's stature, and you can purchase a face/head mask if you want one and don't have one for $5. Their buggies are real VW engines, not small side by sides or a lawn mower engine and yes, you do need to know how to drive a manual transmission to be able to operate one. Charlie and Marianne described the way they would give us hand signals on our tour and how to get in and out of the buggies. We loaded up and headed out. We went down dirt roads, dusty roads, muddy roads, paved roads, through a farm, and stopped first at a lady's house in the country to see her garden and to try Dominican coffee and chocolate. We got muddy on some of the trails and loved it. Wear old clothes, swim trunks and old shoes if you have them with you. After that, we rode the countryside, drove past an old rock quarry, and went through some more rural trails until we stopped next in the middle of a Dominican farm. Next, we rode through some more paved roads into a little town and stopped at a corner store for a snack of coca-cola, ham and cheese. Then, we rode through town and stopped at public Macao Beach. It was beautiful and full of people. After putting our toes in the water and washing off some, we hung out and then met back up at the buggies. Our last trek was through town, down a highway at a decent speed and back to the buggy shop. Our half day tour lasted from about 8:15am until about 12:30pm, and we were back at out resort by 1pm. Marianne (spelling?) was our tour guide and was just fun to be with. She is Swiss and has the most awesome personality and sense of humor. She was an incredible host and really wanted us to have a great time. She took lots of pictures which were high quality along our trip and those are available for purchase when you return for $20 for a QR code which allowed us to download them all that afternoon. After our tour, Angela, the other owner, loaded us up and took us back to our resort. She was also very informational and friendly along the ride. I don't know what other buggy companies are offering, but I am glad we chose Xtreme Buggy Adventures with Charlie, Angela, and Marianne. We would do it again and highly recommend! 5 stars all the way if you are looking for a rugged, well ran excursion to see the DR in a unique way. - S. Emison

Summary: Our family absolutely loved our half day tour and wished we would have booked a full day!! We loved to see the countryside and experience a small piece of Punta Cana outside of our all-inclusive. The vehicles were well taken care of, the tour excellently managed, and our group of 3 buggies were all happy. I highly recommend this company.

Summary: We chose the half day excursion with Xtreme Buggy. Pick up at our hotel was at 7:30 am, returning sometime around 1:30pm. We got to experience the thrill of driving these fun VW buggies on the Dominican roads, in rush hour traffic and through some spectacular countryside, off-roading through an abandoned limestone quarry and drove through small villages, stopping to allow a farmer to exercise his right-of-way with his herd of cows. Be warned, it’s a dusty, dirty ride. Do not aim for the cow patties, because you will be wearing them once they splatter! We stopped to visit a homestead that is also a store, meeting place and general hub of local activity, to view the property and beautiful gardens. We tasted some delicious Dominican coffee – served black and sweet – and enjoyed some Dominican chocolate. Our final stop, before heading back to the hotel, was at Macao Beach. Simply stunning, words just cannot convey the beauty of this spectacular public beach. Turquoise waters that just take your breath away. One thing I noticed, especially away from the “tourist areas”, was how everyone smiled and waved – from the children to the men on horseback – without any expectation, other than a smile and wave in return. These weren’t hotel staff waiting for a tip, but honest to goodness local people, living their lives and just happy to see us drive by. We highly recommend Xtreme Buggy!!
