Positive: We overnighted at Hotel Flatey on our way across to Snaefellsnes Peninsula from the north. The staff at the hotel were absolutely delightful and couldn't have been friendlier. The hotel has two buildings with rooms, all have shared bathroom. The rooms are very clean, however quite small. The old timber building is beautifully renovated, the restaurant serves delicious food. It is certainly a unique experience to do this stop during the summertime.

Negative: Rooms are small and the walls are very thin, meaning toilet and bathroom noises can be heard if your room is next door. WiFi is poor outside of the cafe/restaurant Aside from the tables at the cafe, there is no 'lounge' area per se, although if the weather is nice there is outdoor seating. The restaurant is understandably expensive.
