Positive: Almost everything. - we had a great 2 week stay. A short summary of the highlights are below: Accommodation: Two bedrooms in the main villa, the third bedroom is upstairs by the pool (which is on the roof). The 3rd bedroom has its own ensuite and kitchenette. All three bathrooms are superb with probably the nicest showers we have experienced in any villa in Crete. The pool and poolside area is terrific. Be aware the pool gets deep very quickly. Lots of tables and chairs to relax on with a good balance of sunny and shady spots to choose from as the sun moves around the house. The view over Souda bay is delightful. Shops: The nearest shop in Marathi beach is probably walkable (15-20mins), but has limited options for self catering. Much easier to have a car to get to bakery, shops and pharmacy in Sternes, Spar supermarket in Aroni or the Aldi in Chania. Food & Drink: The Taverna at Loutraki beach (5 mins walk) has closed, possibly permanently. There is a beach bar which serves snacks and sandwiches, but this closes at sunset. A new Onar beach lounge (opened May 2025) is on the southern part of Loutraki beach. This is aimed at the more affluent local & tourist market. Book a bed online for the day and enjoy the sun, sea, pool, music and people watching. There are minimum spend requirements, depending on location of your bed. The is also a restaurant above the Onar beach lounge called Istio. This has a Michelin starred chef and the food is definitely a little bit special. Good ambience, good service, not busy... but pricier than the average Taverna. There are more eating options at Marathi beach, about 3-5 mins by car. The usual array of fish restaurants / tavernas as well as beach bars and also a take-away on the pier, which is well worth a visit. Management: Communication with the management company coudn’t have been better. They reacted promptly to any requests and questions.
Negative: Our only criticism was the lack of pool towels.
Summary: Great villa for two weeks by the beach.
