Batik Coloring Workshop by myBatik
Make your way to the Batik Workshop Center, a short distance from the Kuala Lumpur Twin Towers, downtown attractions, and transport. You'll learn the basics of painting batik and follow the process from start to finish: start with a piece of undyed fabric that’s been pre-waxed with a pattern, choosing from a variety of different designs. Traditional Malaysian batik uses a technique called wax-resist dying that’s been practiced in Southeast Asia for hundreds of years, but Malaysian batiks have distinctive colors and patterns. Choose your colors and learn to fill them in, or practice mixing primary colors into fully-customized secondary hues. After the workshop, you’ll have access to a nearby garden café and batik gallery, and may take home your creation, a square cloth that’s 7.8 inches (20 cm.) across.
