We thoroughly enjoyed meeting our guide Tomoko who took us on a terrific tour of the Hot Springs & beautiful gardens in Beppu. We certainly wouldn’t have been able to see or get around the area so easily without her help. Tomoko is such a delightful person & we really enjoyed chatting to her.
Some of the pool colours are amazingly different due to the mineral content. Steam vents are everywhere & you can choose to drink the water or steam your own food or have a foot bath. We returned to the Beppu train station by a local bus after a most enjoyable afternoon. We were particularly lucky that it did not rain!
