Trek to the Emerald Lagoon in Tierra del Fuego, Argentine Patagonia

You’ll travel with a boutique receptive agency that handles every detail as you set out from your hotel in Province of Tierra del Fuego, Argentine Patagonia to reach the unforgettable Emerald Lagoon. A comfortable transfer takes you to the trailhead, where you begin a trekking trail that winds into the forest within the Tierra Mayor Valley, crossing turbulent streams and rocky terrain before following the clear flow of the Emerald River. The hike culminates at the glacier-born Emerald Lagoon, whose summer-green hue comes from sediments flowing from the Ojo del Albino Glacier-a color you’ll only see in the warmer months, since in winter the lake freezes and is snow-covered. While you soak in the view of the lagoon you’ll refuel with a box lunch, then return along the familiar trail with one last chance to appreciate the valley’s landscape-important: bring a bottle of water.

Summary: A guided hike up to the lake which gave a great appreciation of a glaciated landscape and a hint of the wilderness. It's a popular trail and not technically demanding but probably would be more effort when it is very muddy.
