Summary: We just got back from our first trek in Nepal doing the 3 day option to Poon Hill and had a great time! My parents are in their 60s and were able to do the full trek so I would definitely recommend this as a more family friendly way to experience the beautiful mountain ranges. Arbind was our guide and did a great job of securing rooms with beautiful views and accommodating our requests which we really appreciated. He is a very friendly and good hearted guide that most families would enjoy their trip with. The views at the top were great and well worth the ascent to get there! The first day is mostly straight up for 2 hours up stairs and in the sun so prepare for warmer climates. The second day is longer maybe 4 hours but less steep and more is covered so less hot makes the trek easier. The last day is the 45 minute stair step trek up to the top of Poon Hill for sunrise. A few things to note: the food was surprisingly good, we were impressed; the hot ginger lemon honey drink was a favorite; and the accommodations did not easily have towels or soap so I would recommend bringing your own + cold showers can happen as the hot water is solar based. Overall highly recommend booking with the Nepal High Trek company as they managed everything great for us and were VERY responsive in communication and Arbind as a guide for an enjoyable and easy going trip!

Summary: The Poon Hill trek (4 days) was an ideal option for me and my friend (2 females) who are fairly ‘green’ to trekking but love a good challenge. This trek involves a lot of stairs - so don’t be fooled into thinking this is an easy trek - but it’s worth it for the views. Our guide Anos was an absolute dream from start to finish. Not only did he keep us on track (‘literally’) he kept us chuckling/entertained for the duration of our trek, which made the dreaded stair a whole lot easier. Anos also took the time to explain and teach us all about the Nepalese culture along the way, including encouraging us to try the local dishes, teaching us about the culture and language. For the duration of our trek we stayed in lovely hotel/tea rooms that had a nice homely vibe. Anos made sure to provide us with a clear breakdown of each day and was super supportive and encouraging - particularly on day 3 where we had to walk 16km to reach Ghandruk. We have no doubt having Anos as our guide made the whole experience extra special - a once in a lifetime experience. Dhanyabād Anos!

Summary: This experience was amazing. I did this with a friend (2 females) and we had Anos as our tour guide. The best guide we could have asked for! Anos took such great care of us, so much attention to detail, always making sure we had our coffee stops and the best rooms in the tea houses. He was incredibly knowledgeable about hiking around Nepal and the Nepalese culture, he taught us so much! Always ready for a laugh and to make us smile on the early morning wake ups (we are not morning people!) and being our personal photographer throughout. About the trek itself - The views from start to finish were incredible, especially the sunrise poon hill view and the Ghandruk view on the last morning. I would say you need a decent amount of fitness and a little hiking experience to fully enjoy this trek as it’s not just a walk in the park. There are some parts with continuous steps up for over 2 hours and the same for downhill, and on one day we walked for 12 hours (with stops along the way). Anos made sure we got hot showers and private bathrooms at every accommodation. Our favourite accommodation was Snow View Lodge and Restaurant in Ghorepani. So cosy, great shower, great food. The food throughout the whole trek was incredible, again, Anos made sure we stopped at the best places and gave us recommendations for: Tibetan bread (delicious for breakfast!), Dal Bhat, guava (fruit) and more! Can’t thank Anos enough for an incredible experience! We will always remember this trip!
