Monkey River & Manatee Watch

Summary: Our group really enjoyed our trip. We were able to see monkeys, crocodiles and manatees. Doyle and Doyle Jr were great guides and made sure we found all the animals, especially the manatees which were number one on our list . Our trip to Monkey River Village was special being able to do some souvenir shopping as well as have a nice local lunch. Lots of bugs, so just be prepared.

Summary: My family and I had an A++ experience with the Captain Jak team on the Monkey River and Manatee Watch tour. Our guide and his son were fantastic hosts for our large family of nine. The short hike, boat ride, and amazing lunch was the perfect combination to keep our young children entertained and not too strenuous for our older family members. The wildlife watching was INCREDIBLE. We saw crocodiles, howler monkeys, amazing birds, a mother/pup manatee, and so much more. Highly recommend!

Summary: The experience is all you imagine! Beautiful views, amazing monkeys and we had a chance to see turtles, crocodiles, birds, bats, dolphins and manatees. Incredible trees, flowers and islands. The lunch was so delicious and our guide was so knowledgeable, friendly, funny and very helpful. I recommend this tour to everyone!

Summary: We did a very last minute online booking for Monkey River and it turned out great! Our guide, Doyle had a lot of local knowledge about the plants and animals and was super friendly. We had a great time and learned a lot. Our young kids (3&7) also had a great time on this tour. Highly recommend!

Summary: Captain Jak's tour guides were very friendly & knowledgeable. Delicious lunch! We saw the howler monkeys close up, heard them growl (really vs howl) loudly! Saw manatees, crocodiles, bats, birds, & leaf-cutter ants. Had a great time. Thx! Only issue was they should communicate pick-up times better...told us via Viator app that event started at 8am with hotel pick-up 30-60 minutes prior; fortunately our concierge was familiar with Jak's and was able to confirm the night before that pickup was at 8:45am.

Summary: We rented our golf cart from Captain Jaks and it was great, we needed to extend our stay and they were able to accommodate us even in the busy. They also can help with Tours. It is truly a one stop shop!

Summary: Such a great tour - our guide was so friendly and knowledgeable - we learned so much of Monkey River plants and animals - we saw birds, crocodiles, ants, monkeys, turtles, bats and more! Highly recommend!

Summary: What a unique trip. As we left into the Mangroves, a female Iguana watched us enter into the open water on our way to Monkey River. I was a bit concerned when we left because I was covered from head to toe, just like the instructions asked us to be, several people on the boat were wearing shorts, tanks and sandals. I thought they might put on more clothes as we entered the Jungle, but, nope. As we entered into the Jungle, another tour group offered up walking sticks, I grabbed a sturdy one. I highly recommend doing this. ( if no one offers you one, there are a bunch again the trees as you enter) the paths are uneven and when we were there muddy & slippery. I slipped and fell one time, landed on my knees. So I was offered the hands of one of my boat mates as my hubby was further ahead of me, and continued to walk to the strangest, loudest, sound, apparently it was the Monkeys. At first they were hard to see, as soon as I spotted one, then they all came into view. After a while we hiked our way back, looking for Tarantulas, Snakes, avoiding fire ants and such. I learned a lot. Back to the boat and to the village for a delicious Belizean lunch. Back to the docks, along the way we cruised though Manatee row..nary a Manatee to be seen. No worries, it was a great day!

Summary: What a fun day! Getting out on the water to see the area was very cool. Visiting Monkey River Town and having a traditional creole lunch was excellent! We traveled up the river and saw lots of wildlife: howlers, crocodiles (close up), many birds, crabs, bats, fresh jaguar tracks and much more. The boar ride itself was great and Capt Doyle and Doyle Jr were great guides. We did not see any manatee that day, which was disappointing for me (my favorite sea creature) but understandable as nature goes. Everything about this tour was fun and Captain Jak's was a great company to work with. Highly recommend this!
