Summary: LOVED IT! I learned so much about coffee with this hands on small coffee farm tour. I lucked out since it's low season and the english speaking tour was likely not going to happen. My spanish isn't good enough yet so I would have struggled with that one. Fortunately, my guide was Enrique "The Best" :-) It was an amazing experience since Enrique is a local Boquete guy and we were able to talk about coffee and cultural nuances. He's a smart guy who has worked with the farm created by USA expats hiring and supporting the local people. I was able to join the tour from their store right downtown Boquete. Some of my take aways: dark roast which is what I drank in the past to get a bold taste is likely overcooked and one misses a lot of the antioxidants (the good stuff) in coffee. So when it came to roasting my beans, I picked the medium roast which is what Enrique drinks. The other take away for me what the huge difference how the coffee is brewed; I had heard about siphon based makers but seeing it in person and taste testing between the Italian Expresso and the French piston press (which is what I travel with these days) was very interesting. The tour was go good that I had to reactivate my decade long ignored tripadvisor account just to post! Lovely area of Panama to visit and I hope to become fluent in Spanish very soon! La Paz, La Paix, Peace.

Summary: A coffee journey out of expectations. Enrique gave us a very detailed and impressive introduction and we are now half expert. We tried coffee in very unique way and we made our own coffee product successfully. The owner offered us a ride to our hotel. Everything is pleasant.
