Book Your Hell's Gate Experience in Rotorua, Bay of Plenty

Summary: The walk was awesome, although the sulphur smell not so great. Part of the track was closed off for maintenance, however this was explained on entry. All view points on the map provided were still accessible though. The mud spa and hot pools were great. I especially loved the wood carving that was included in the price. The staff member was very knowledgeable and friendly, even taking a quick video for me. I went around 12 noon, and there wasn't too many people. Most of my walk I was on my own, and I was the only person at the carving house. There were only a few others in the pools. A great way to spend a couple of hours. Thank you for a great experience.

Summary: We really enjoyed the tour our guide’s (sorry I don’t remember his name but it was long) genuine story telling enthusiasm and knowledge was the highlight of the day! Surprisingly we really enjoyed the wood carving a little souvenir to take home. The mud bath was fun met some friendly folks, took turns taking each other’s pictures! Overall and fun day!!! I would highly recommend.

Summary: The experience was amazing, the driver picked us up on time and the place itself was so beautiful. The staffs were so helpful. Definitely one of the things to do in rotorua. Definitely will come back for the mud bath and hot spa!☺️

Summary: We choose the mud bath but we were upsold the experience when we arrived- all the staff were friendly and welcoming but we would have been happy with just the mud bath and geothermal pool. BUT and this is a big but we still smell of sulphur 2 full days and lots of showers later and my silver jewellery has gone brown even though I didn’t actually wear it in Hire swimwear and towels and clean your silver with toothpaste.

Summary: The Hells Gate Experience is definitely a recommend must do! My husband and I booked this tour but were a bit sceptical going into it. We jumped into the guided tour with T and we were absolutely blown away with T's knowledge and information throughout the tour. As the tour progressed, T stopped at every stop and provided us with lots of information and knowledge. T was hands down was amazing! Once the tour ended, we did some wood carvings and then jumped into the Mud Baths and then into the Sulphur Pool. Our skin was left feeling soft and rejuvenated. We definitely will be recommending this experience!

Summary: The geothermal walk was very cool! The smell is obviously bad but you kind of get used to it, as long as you stay out of the big wafts of steam. It’s very interesting seeing this natural phenomenon as you walk around. Finishing that off with a mud bath and spa soak is perfect! The mud bath you get 20 minutes for and the mud exfoliates your skin if you rub it all over and leave it to dry. There are showers to rinse off after that, but unfortunately, the day I was there, there was a problem with the hot water for the showers. Not ideal, but these things happen sometimes. After rinsing you can soak in the 2 hot pools for as long as you like. It’s very peaceful and relaxing. Was a lovely and interesting experience, which I would recommend. Be prepared for smelly clothes/bathers though!

Summary: Our whanau visited Hells Gate to enjoy some therapy and relaxation after a holiday that was packed with adventure activities. The Hells Gate team are an amazing group of people, from the walk around the park to the hot pools and wood carving, we had a great time and look forward to visiting again one day.
